Default Your Favorite Pet

What was/is your favorite pet.

When I was little I had a Samese cat named Koko and a Dachshound named Dutch. My cat got lost after we moved to California. I loved that cat. My Dachshound had to be put down after a few years due to medical problems. I felt bad for my mother because that was right around the time I left for college and she was alone after that. A few years ago I got my kids a puppy. She was part German Shepard and I loved her too. We ended up having to get rid of her however after about 4 years. Right now my daughter has two turtles.

Cats all the way. My favorite little kitty died about 11 months ago. Suddenly - she got extremely ill and would not recover. Very spirited and kind creature.

Miss her.

A Maltese Cross we had for sixteen years named Alfie, then we were given father-in-law's dog a Pomeranian named Mitzi; Alfie welcomed her with open paws and when he had a heart attack and needed to be put to sleep, she pined away and wouldn't walk or eat or anything, she couldn't be helped by the Vet, either. Very, very sad times, my husband and I swore we would never again have an animal break our hearts....then Kitty came along and insisted on moving in....and we love her SO!

I am sorry Vautrin. I know what it is to lose a loving pet. I actually had another cat, my very first one when I was a real little girl. His name was Charlie and he was just an alley cat but he was sweet and one day he just left and never came back. I missed him so much my mom let me get another one and that was Koko. I love cats but have since become allergic to them. I would get one now but it would be one constant asthma attack for me. I hope you find another kitty to bring into your home.

growing up we had a dog her name was Benji. As we were growing up and staying out my mom used to say that Benji would sit by the front door and wait til everyone was home. We used to think Mom was just saying that to make us come home earlier. Well when Mom died suddenly we found out that Benji really did that. We used to have to tell her that mom was not coming home but she would still not move from the door. We all think Benji died of a broken heart when she realized that Mom was not coming home. When Benji died it was like losing a part of the family.

TKDLady, sorry to hear what happened with Charlie, and you developing an allergy for cats.

My gf is allergic to all animals. So that will probably mean that we won't have pets, when the time is there.

That was a very sad story, BA.

I was in my early teens. We lost Dad first and then Mom a few years later. Thank God for my older sister. She kept us all together. I don't think you ever stop missing them Luba especially when you have lots of different memories.

OMG, that's even MORE tragic, losing them both....oh dear God, I don't know what to say....however did you manage to continue on? If you feel like you can talk about it, maybe posting on the Family topic is better...

BA...I do believe pets have a way of knowing when thing go terribly wrong to those humans they love. That was a wonderful story. I told my son and he got all teary eyed because he's a tremendous animal lover.

Where I live I am not allowed to have pets. She actually lived with my parents, but I was clearly her favorite.

Default Re: Your Favorite Pet

I think my favorite pet was my cat Miff. He was a bit hyperactive but it could have been because he was just adjusting to being the cat of teen-aged riffraff (myself and my 2 roommates).

He'd run from the kitchen full speed into the coffee table, lay on his back and twitch for a bit, then get up and run around everywhere else. He'd also jump from bed to bed (I shared a bedroom with one of my roommates) keeping us awake until he'd finally settle down and snuggle up under my chin.

He was a great cat and a lot of fun but he fell in with the wrong crowd and ended up being coerced beyond his rather large yard to a busy road up the lane. One day his luck on that road just ran out, sad really.

Thinking of you Miff.

Our Beloved Cat that I've talked much about as well as our little dog, Alfie, who we've had for sixteen years. When my husband's Dad went to live in Extended Care, we took his Wonderful pom, Mitzi. They are all gone now!
