Short Chinchilla vid
I was playing with my camcorder since I hardly ever get to, so I made a short clip of video using the nightshot mode. Keep in mind it's pitch black where I am and it's nightvision, that's why it's all greenish.

Loading for me, try right clicking, and it uses Windows Media Video so if you're on a Mac I really don't know if you can watch it or not

Hmmmm...odd, I'm on Firefox in XP and I'm having no trouble. I'm a bit tired to look into it now, but it might be because of the access rules Joe over on the other boards has set up on my hosted space.

I think it's because Joe is messing around with the site. It actually was down for me for almost two hours today so that would explain the problem.

Don't they make fur coats from chinchillas?
Not trying to be a jerk, I actually considered getting one before I ended up with Naked (my very bad monster cat).
Are they good pets? Maybe like ferrets?

They make perfectly fine pets. I've got another vid of them dust bathing I took today while it was light in the hallway.
They are nocturnal for the most part, but they sleep with their eyes open so I can never tell when they are actually awake or asleep. Also they tend to share awake hours with the hours I am home.
They make great pets as far as I'm concerned, that is as long as you don't mind the whole rodent "I'm going to poop wherever I want" mindset.

I can't get over those ears. They look like little Yoda's from Star Wars! If I didn't have a cat AND a very wierd dog....I'd be tempted to get a couple myself.
Is that dry sand? Why do they roll around in it?

It's very very fine dust. They can't bathe in water because of all their thick fur, instead they roll around in the dust and that cleans out their fur.
