Moving and my cats
So, Beanie and I finally moved. We live in a nice house in the country with lots and lots of land, a pony barn, and peace and quiet out the wazoo.
Orion, our problem kitty, was THRILLED at being outside. So much for him to see and do. I was happy that he was exploring as he couldn't have done in our ex sh*t hole apartment.
Nakie, my big whiney kitty, hated it. He cried to be let in, and after 10 minutes of it, I just opened the door. He then proceeded to follow me to the couch where he sat on my lap, then, I went to bed, and he followed me in doing that as well, while purring loudly.
I suppose that Nakie will always think of himself as a baby, while Orion is our intrepid explorer. It's funny how each animal has such a distinct personality.

YOu could get one of those hairless Sphynx cats. I have heard that they are ugly as sin, but you could pet those...

I think clingy cats are much better than the roaming type personally. I just hope your "free spirit" cat doesn't get himself lost or worse.

YL, be careful that your cat doesn't infest your home with fleas. Outdoor cats bring fleas home.
I had 2 cats when Krystal was a baby and I used to let them go outside. well, I learned my lesson! My place was infested with fleas! I had to have it fumigated 3 times and I got rid of the cats. Since they were used to going outside, I couldn't keep them in so I had no choice but to give them to a good home.
Every cat I got after that, I got fixed and declawed and kept them indoors. Never had a flea problem after that. Cats are the worst for bringing in fleas.
I gave my cat to my brother before i moved here in September. We only have the one dog left. when he goes, that's it for pets for me. I've had my fill all my life.
I've had dogs, cats, fish, turtles and birds. no more. I love animals but I hate feeling trapped by them when it comes to vacations.

It'll probably take them all some time to get used to a new place. How did the move go?

A house, woow! I've never lived in a house before - we have a counry house back home, but I've never stayed there more than one weekend!
As for the cat... cats belong outside. They're happier there.
I had a cat once - mysister found her, she was stray. Brought it to my grandparents place once - they have a house with an enourmous garden. The minute she was out, the poor cat was running like she never saw land before in her life. One minute was in the middle of a tree, the other was on the fence, running so fast... poor thing was afraid we'd immediately take her in. She befriended a little dog there, it was incredible. Cats really don't belong inside .

I'm sure that dog is getting the ribbing of a lifetime from his other dogs friends for befriending a cat.

Well, communists made most people stay in identical flats, identical appartments, etc. People who had houses were evicted, no money back, because they were "bourgeois" and the "bourgeois" were living off workers' sweat.
There are lots of suits right now in Romania about people wanting their property back. Other people were moved in... blah, evil, just evil!
