I myself never had a pet. Not allowed where I live; but at my parents a total of nine cats (3 of which are still alive). And one guinea pig.

All my pets, except the last dog we had, were when I was a kid. I wanted the last dog we had so our kids could have a pet. I thought that was important for kids. Unfortunately, my husband, being raised on a farm, had issues with our dog. She loved him and most of the time he seemed to like her but she needed much more attention than we could give her and had to give her away. I want to get another pet so bad but he won't let me. I still don't have much time for one so it is probably for the best but it doesn't make the feeling go away. I still think pets are important for all ages.

Before I was born until 2001, cat - Tiger

When I was 8(?), 2 goldfish - Favre and White (like the packer players)

2002, siamese cat, Polly. I named her that cause, when she was a kitten, she always sat on my shoulder.

2005 - 2006, 2 cats - phil and riley

2005, 2 rats - phantom and don (like don juan). Don got out when we went on vacation once, I have reason to believe he's still alive in the house somewhere.

2006, Chinchilla - Piangi

A cat named Tammy in my teen years....

Mickey, my husband's and my first beloved dog who had to be put to sleep because a car ran over his leg and it developed gangrene; terrible memory

Alfie, whom we had for sixteen years

Mitzi, who was going to be put to sleep because father-in-law couldn't look after her. We took her in and she lived in a loving home for four years...

Now we have our wonderful cat, Whiskers, who should have been called a more appropriate name than that! We give her loving nicknames instead....

I've had so many pets in my lifetime, i'll try and remember them all and list them.

childhood pets:

pompom - a cat. she had kittens, we kept one and it died.

Fido - a little poodle.

Blackie - a black dog.

Ti-Loup - our female germain sheppard who had pups.

Beau - a miniture colly. loved that dog!

Turtles, birds and fish. (my mother loves birds)

since i've been on my own:

A beagle dog - can't remember his name

Max - our 7 month old pup that got hit by a recycle truck - had to put him down.

Rex - our dog that we saved from the humain society. he died a couple years ago of old age.

Maxie - out other dog who we saved from an abusive home. she looked just like Max which is why we called her Maxie.

Willy - a little mutt that we kept for awhile until the owners decided they wanted him back.

Midnight - a black dog that we got for our girls - he ended up going missing

Buddy - a dog we got from hubby's mother when she moved. he also ended up going missing (same time as Midnight)

Sam - my all black kitty that i loved dearly. he died of urinary tract infection.

Toni - krystal's cat. she died also.

Smoky - a grey cat that we took in temporarily for a friend. we had him for months.

Mickey - Kass's little dog that we still have.

We've also had birds and fish.

when mickey goes, that's it for pets for me. I don't want anymore.

How did you get the smell out, Star...wonder why the hamster went into the air ducts in the first place?

there wasn't anything i could do but wait. all that winter our house smelled like death but it finally went away. i used a ton of air fresheners and plug in air fresheners.

he probably went in there to run from the dog. once he got in there, he couldn't get back out so he died in there.

Total lifetime:

6 cats
Jezebel (tortoise-shell)
Dusty (Russian blue)
Sierra (not sure the breed, cream to black, gorgeous violet eyes) *
Tacoma (black & white) *
Tahoe (black & white) *
Tiffany (blue point Himalayan)

5 rabbits
Bugsy (Dutch, black and white)
Sugar (Dutch, brown and white)
Shadow (all black)
Harvey (a.k.a., Dirty Harry) (golden brown)
Shasta (white lop)

(and a goldfish that lasted a day, but I don't really count that)

:-:-:-:-:-:-:

Most at any one time:
4 cats (Dusty, Sierra, Tacoma, and Tahoe)
1 rabbit (Shasta)

:-:-:-:-:-:-:

Currently:
2 cats (Tahoe and Tiffany)

* Note: Tacoma and Tahoe were the daughters of Sierra. That's what can happen when you take in a pregnant stray. Small litter though.

I'm really not sure to be totally honest but I'll give it a go:
  • Hamster: Chewy
  • Dog: Corkie
  • Dog: Alfie
  • Cat: Miff
  • Wart: Ed
  • Cockatiels: since this is a family friendly site I'll refrain from repeating all the names these annoying birds had.
  • Iguana: Axel
...and various other pets (mostly cats) that girlfriends had at the time we were dating.

Default Re: How many pets have you had and what were they?

  • A budgie named "birdy" (real original, no?)
  • A cockatiel named "cocoa"
  • A dalmatian named "daisy"
  • Our current mutt named "blizzard"
The only one I feel really bad about is Cocoa. We never clipped her wings and she flew away when we were actually moving from an apartment to a home.

Great first impression for the new neighbors: me running through their yards with tears in my eyes screaming "Cocoa! Cocoa!"
