Gator's
Today the Animal Contol are hunting for GAtors, I live on the water so the canal is like 8 feet away from my back door. We have a gator faimly and a crap load of annoying ducks that crap in my yard and actually got in my portch and crapped on the portch to. Turns out the Gator ate someone's cat so now it will be Gator meat. ( If they catch them)
Stupid Gator why couldn't he have just eated a friggen Duck :kittydrink:

I think they find Duck meat to be a bit on the greasy side, catmeat is much leaner and less gamey in nature.

I couldn't imagine living with gators in my back yard. the thought terrifies me to death. don't kids get hurt and bitten or worse from being so close to gators?

Every now and then....there is a mishap....but not very often. If anything...they will grab a small pet.

They never bother us, as long as people don't feed them they will leave humans alone. We take the Canoe out all the time the Gators ignore us

Thats just plain nuts Stone, you can certainly tell the difference between someone who's grown up in the environment to that of us who fear other predators such as skunks, squirrels, and cute, fuzzy kittens.

We used to go tubing (on large inner-tubes) down spring runs for 3 miles and there would be gators sunning all on the sides of the banks (18 feet wide from one side to another) ....and they never bother anyone. Only if an animal or small child walked UP to a gator....would there be the possibility of them getting injured or eaten.
And also as Stone said....don't feed them and they won't look to humans as a food supply. The problem is usually tourist who don't know that.

lol, thanks
I just can't wrap my head around being in or near the water with a known, vicious, predator that can rip you limb from limb in seconds.
With my luck I'd finally make it down to Florida one day, meet some of out fantastic members, go inner tubing or cayacking on some croc infested waterway and end up the chewtoy of some hungry dinosaur.
No thanks, I choose life.

I wouldn't go anywhere near a bear either!!
there are no bears where i live. about the most dangerous animal in these parts are cayotes and they really don't bother anyone unless they feel threatened. they're more in the country and not the city area. we used to hear them every night when we lived out in the country.
When I lived in the soo there were bears. black bears and a few grizzlies. you just knew not to go anywhere near them and never feed them. we used to go to the garbage dump just to sit in our cars and watch the cubs with their parents. beautiful!

The most dangerous creatures over here are wild cats. They barely exist over here - but a cat that feels threatened can be highly dangerous, and cause severe injuries. Not to mention that they cats can be dangerous to pregnant women.
And of course dogs, that are not kept on a leash. Accidents do happen over here with them. And occasionally a kid loses his / her life.
It's a jungle over here!
