Default Do Animals 'Think'?

I think most of us in here have pets or have had pets that we thought were smart. They can interact with humans sharing emotions, let you know what they want and get into a lot of trouble on their own.

I read once where a dog has the verbal understanding capacity of a 3-4 year old if worked with enough

I also watch the pet psychic on Animal Planet sometimes .....and kinda DOUBT that animals 'verbalize' with anyone.

Here is an interesting article: http://espn.go.com/outdoors/sporting..._think_RJ.html

What are your feelings on dogs or any pet for that matter? Do they 'think' or have 'deep feelings'?

My dog bif actually cried at the end of The Green Mile when John Coffee rode the lightning.

I actually handed him a tissue.

Doesn't make the fisherman any smarter if they keep the same fish the second time around either.

I don't mean to confuse the issue....but how could they KEEP the same fish twice? If they kept it the first time....they wouldn't have it to throw back.

I think you misread my post.

The fisherman throws the fish back, catches it again and then keeps it. Kinda dumb but I've seen it happen.

Oh and by the way, it wasn't me.

With my luck I'll die and come back as the last fish swimming in the school. Fish always seem to swim with their mouth open so I wonder where to p00p goes when the rest of the school has to dump. Right into d00keyfish's mouth I bet.

Did you give this a lot of thought Duke? If you did....we need to talk therapy!

I think the poop floats down to the bottom of the sea or tank....it doesn't float around.

It does float initially, just not for long. Just long enough to end up in my little fish mouth.

You wouldn't believe some of the random thoughts of dumb that run through my head.

The moment I swim up to the front is the moment we swim blindly into a whales mouth.

I personally think that all animals think to a certain point just some more than others, take Octupuses and little sea fish, An octopus can actually unscrew a glass jar lid if he works on it a while and can even build his own house out of ANYTHING....but a simple fish only thinks "i need to eat and take care of my family" not "there might be a preditor out there to trick me into biting a fake worm"...
