Re: Can't really call him a pet, but..
A few years ago I opened the door early in the morning, just getting light, and across the fence about 10 feet away was a bear. He looked at me and I looked at him...I was so shocked. I found out later you are never supposed to look a bear in the eyes....

We have bears coming down near restaurants, at the mountains. Those restaurants, with a rather secluded location... it was funny, people were coming there to watch them. They were very punctual, around 9 PM in the evening, lol !!!

The place is outside Sinaia - a small city near Brasov. The restaurant is called "Taverna Sarbului" .

Lost in translation
Does Sarbului mean bear? I thought it meant Serbian (confused). Sounds fascinating - I wonder if they put food out so that the guests get a show every night.

You are right, the translation of the restaurant's name is "the tavern of the Serb" and they serve serb Specialitites - a lot of grills, too. The only conclusion one can draw is that our bears like international food ...

Reminds me - you worked in Yugoslavia in the war, was that you or a cyberscott?

I think this was a warning issued to older and hairier women (not mentioning names) as there is a risk of the bear considering you as a possible mate.
You never know, maybe the bear is digging in the garbage in hope that one day you'll come outside and start up a meaningful conversation.

There is only one way for you to know: you were that bear.
