Default Which animal makes the best pets

I have often wondered which animal make the best pet? The two animals on top of my list are cats and dogs however I rate cat higher because they require very little care compared with dogs, cats don't need to be walked, the are very independent compare with dogs.

What do you think?

I have one of both. YES...the cat is easier. Ours is even housebroken and meow's at the door to go out...so I don't even have to deal with a litterbox. Then again, if we go somewhere overnight or all day, I can leave her one and she uses it. No bathing, no walking, no digging, no chewing, no BARKING...she is a dream compared to the goofy dog we have!!!

However, I'll admit he's the one who gets more attention from all of us and we love him dearly.

If I had to do it again though.....only a cat in the house....and that would be more than enough.

I'm not fond of birds or reptiles.

My daughter and I adore cat but my wife prefers a dog so we have a dog and because our dog hate cats we do not have a cat. The positive side with dog it that having to walk him twice a day forces us to be active too when we are felling lazy

Puppies are cuter, funnier, and much much more adorable than kittens, although nothing can resist a little pair of green eyes and a sweet meow !

I'm a dog person 110%

I think a cat is easier also to have as a pet.

We have a dog. He's 1/2 chihuaha and 1/2 yorky. He's such a suck but he's a cutie.

Once this dog goes, I'll have no more pets in the house. We've had many dogs, cats, birds and a hamster (that died in our air ducts - stinky!) I've had my fill of pets in my lifetime.

Another thing about pet is holiday arrangement, sometime my wife and I holiday separately because we cannot find someone to look after out pets. I can understand you point about not wanting another pets

We had that problem when we had our other 2 dogs and 1 cat. We lived out in the country and had to have someone come everyday to make sure the dogs were fed, watered and got a good run while we were vacationing. That was a huge pain!

Now, we bring our little dog with us. he's small enough that most places don't make a fuss about him being with us. We take him shopping and everything.

I have a African Spur Thigh Land Turtle it's 90 lbs and will get up to 250 and live up to 90 years. It's the best pet I've ever had it doesn't WANT attention but welcomes it, I never have to walk it and my son goes on a Turtle Ride witch he thinks is Hillarious

Yes,
Turtles seem to be nice pets, my brother-in-law keep turtles, I think its a specie that come from a cold climate, when he goes on holiday he put them in the fridge, they think its winter and hibernate, when he get back he brings them out of the fridge and they are happy.

the good thing about it living 90 years is you never have to worry about the loss of it dying.

i like cats better, but im not a pet person.

Just as long as you don't leave your life savings to the old turtle.

some people actually do that; leave all their worldly possessions to their pets when they die. :?

Dogs, hands down.

Cat's may be easier to keep but many places that have cats don't know how to combat the smell of their urine. It's pretty easy to tell a house that has a cat just because of the smell IMO.

Dogs may be messier and needier, but they are also much friendlier and warmer, a true companion. BTW, I'm not talking about the ankle biters, I mean big, intelligent dogs.
