$1000 Dog House

http://www.store.yahoo.com/tailsbythebay/hatidogho.html

What a $1000 dog house can look like! They have air conditioned ones too.
Geez.....what do they say about fools and their money?

I've never known anyone w/a "doghouse"

All dogs here are either indoor/outdoor dogs or hunting dogs which have kennels w/indoor access - I guess the hunters may have an interest in a house like that b/c those dogs need care they are $$$- but fam pets have rule of the house where I come from

We originally crate trained our dog and it worked so well. When we left to go somewhere....we always put it in front of the TV so he wouldn't feel lonely.

To this day, he crawls under the table to sleep because he misses his first home. He just got too big for it and the larger crates are too expensive and bulky.

He has an igloo shaped doghouse outside...but never uses it. If we moved it in the house....I bet he would though.

some dogs like crates- gives them the "my den" feeling- we train dogs w/crates and a rule is never mess w/a dog in its crate even if it is open b/c they are territorial about them

Do you have a closet or anything you could make a "crate" for your dog?

Well...he's kinda LARGE now. He does find the darnest places to hide under though. Sometimes only his head is under the couch and his body is sticking out. We tickle him....so his head hits the top of the couch. He doesn't mind....me loves us anyway. :runningmutt:

The crate training is the way to go. I always thought it was mean until I realized how much dogs love their own 'spot'. Plus, you can leave them without worrying about them hurting themselves.

yep! i'm ordering that house right away. NOT! I can't believe that there are people who actually will pay that kind of money for a dog house they can build themselves for maybe 200.00 or less. What a rip off! 8O

We had our 2 outside dogs for years and had dog houses for them both. Hubby made them himself. When I was little, we had a beautiful female german sheppard and my dad built her this 2 room house complete with windows and a white picket fence. He painted it white with black trim. It was the cutest dog house I ever seen. It looked like a mini-our house.

Our little dog now doesn't have a house since he's an indoor dog. he doesn't have a cage either. He's got his own bed but sleeps with Kassandra every night on her bed with her. He loves to cuddle up to someone.

cool side story

my aunt lives outside Atlanta (Woodstock if you are familiar w/the area)- anyway this man near her wanted his house to look like a castle- all the banks and builders laughed at him so he went to work for a railroad and brought home a couple of those huge stones everyday

eventually he built his castle- had a "moat" pool that went around and 2 mini castles in the back yard- 1 a changing house for the pool- 1 a pooch castle 8)

Woodstock is a cool area. Really nice houses for great prices. (As are most of the towns surrounding the Atlanta area on the northern side.)

I know people who have built mini dog houses to match their own and it's pretty cool if the dog spends a lot of time outside.
