Right now there are two if your interested in looking at them:

This will represent our new forum software: http://vbtest.f8tal.com/

This is a proposed CMS for the Main Page, News and Link Directory: http://www.lifesupporters.com/joomla/

Please knock them around a bit, register, post, whatever you want. Just keep in mind, nothing added to any of these test sites will be retained for future use. All we're doing is beta testing new site software that will hopefully move Lifesupporters.com beyond the confines of our current software package.

The verdict is still definately out on Joomla but vB will definately represent our new forum software at minimum. I've worked with vB a fair amount and cb definately knows more than I do.

vB will give us way more options in the forums so I'm actually pretty excited about moving to it.

I will be looking at these a little more later today and this weekend. But what I have seen looks good. I like the vB one best so far. I know that isn't a detailed description of the good and bad but I will get to it soon.

I have been playing around on the vB site. I registered with no problem and changed some of my preferences. I was unable to get the multiple quote button to work but then I am not sure what that means so maybe it is working and I just don't know what the heck I am doing. :o

Wouldn't be the first time.

I had issues uploading a personal picture and selection of an avatar was not possible. It didn't like the jpg I tried to upload so I found a gif and it took it but said the upload failed.

I have to admit that I'm a bit of a n00b myself when it comes to initial setup of vB so all of the issues you experienced are likely config. related rather than software issues.

vB is actually on a test site at the moment and on the wrong server so it's really not an accurate depiction of it's end functionality. Unfortunately, we can't test vB on my server account until Lifesupporters.com is on the new server and DNS has propegated to the new address.

Also, it may be a while yet before we even make the move to vB because our database is currently non-compatible with vB. We have to translate our db to phpbb and then to vB which is a long and very involved process.

Lastly, the Joomla site is a CMS that neither I or cb know anything about nor are either one of us sold on it's functionality. I do like the fact that it's extremely robust but it's remains to be seen if we can use it as the vB bridge costs money to integrate with Joomla and the url's are not SEO friendly.

Your more than welcome to beat the crap outta the sites and get familiar with them.

After all, that's where we're heading. We've outgrown what this site can do so I need more flexability.

Do you still want us to test out these sites? I haven't gone to the joomla site too much. I didn't see too much to do there. Maybe I just wasn't looking. Just wondering.
