Default Historians and/or Researchers Wanted

All right, this may sound hokey but it's on the up and up.

We created Game Movie Making.com so we could have a home to discuss game movies, create tutorials on tips and tricks, link to plugins, software, hardware, etc., sites and lastly, have a home to host our movies.

Part of this approach is that we want to use our PC games to create as historically accurate movies as possible in an attempt to not just entertain, but to educate.

This is where you come in. What we need are some people who are willing to help us uncover the facts about the events we'll be filming on. By truth, I mean digging below the propaganda and uncovering the events that took place as seen in the eyes of axis and allies. There are two sides to every story and history is no different.

Please either indicate your interests in this forum or over at gamemoviemaking.com in the forums here.

You do not need to be a history professor to do this; in fact, all you need to be able to do is surf the net and report plus validate your findings. All findings will eventually make it to the scripting process so all findings will be discussed in detail during this process.

Lastly, a friend of mine is a history buff and he's offered to authenticate our findings prior to filming. Also, you will see your work and contributions recognized in the end credits of each movie you participate in.

Game movie average running time between 5 - 10 minutes length.

That is interesting. But what would it entail, exactly?

The type of guns German / Allied troops used in the Summer of 1940? Dates of occupation, etc? Pronounciation of names of equipment? Common curses at the front?

Or even the knowledge one side had at a particular date about troop movements?

Essentially, all we're trying to gather is the relevant info. that lead up to the battle we'll be covering, the battle itself (in as much detail as possible) and the result.

There are many aspects that we won't be able to cover ingame so we'll need things such as:

- actual political images, facts, dates, etc.
- direct quotes (the more famous the better)
- layout of battle area/areas to be filmed (crucial)
- any indirect factors that influenced battle such as military shuffling, weather, seasonal, trade embargo, propaganda.
- war posters, propaganda prints, radio clips, and general media
- whatever else you can think of

Right now this is a general guideline and is by no means written in stone. There are literally hundreds of issues we'll run into when creating these films so it may get frustrating at times but we are also very limited by software at present. Once we grow, we should be able to entice a few coders, mappers, model makers, and skinners to join out team, which will help when using the games to film.

All historical documentation will be discussed onsite in a hidden forum (that you will have complete access to) and the discussions will lead to a "rough in" on the actual movie script for which you will also be credited.

There are way too many details that will spawn from this topic so this really is meant to give interested parties an idea of what the job means today. It will change I'm sure as we all settle into our prospective rolls in creating these movies.

I'm looking to turn out 2 movies this year. The first is a "Teaser Trailer" advertising the upcoming movie and the last is the actual film. I'd love to have the "Feature Film" ready for release a few weeks prior to Christmas if possible.

A few things to consider is this:

- As of a few years ago, gaming was as big as the movie industry, now it is likely larger.
- There are very few resources online for game movie making; we hope to be definitive, all encompassing, and helpful
- Gaming has a larger audience in males from late teens to early thirties than Prime Time Television
- Game movies make it all over the net in little to no time and if our features are quality (as they will be), we will experience a growth explosion on the teaser alone.

Also someone who has a good voice that we can use for narrative would be a huge asset. Somehow I just don't think Duke or I are going to cut it.

This is a huge undertaking but will be very rewarding and will lead to more projects and exposure down the road (no not that kind!) so anyone who joins would be in for a lot of fun by having the opportunity to hang around with us (hey who wouldn't want more of that?!).

Here's my favorite site for pics, movies, and film clips of various wars. The webmaster, Charley, is a real good friend of mine. I'm sure he would be willing to help you out in any way he could and may even know of someone who would love to participate in your project.

Check out the multi-media galleries.
