DA, no one can make you happy but yourself with or without a girlfriend! I noticed you seem happier and I think that's GREAT!

I actually think many people find happiness more so in a relationship than when they are alone prolly because they feel like their needed. The problem is that it only temporarily masks your insecurities which eventually rise back to the surface and not only make you miserable but your partner too.

It's bad enough being miserable, it's even worse to feel additional guilt and/or pressure because your partner is miserable too.

A year from now when you and this young lady are married, we'll all look back at this thread and laugh. "What was there to worry about?"

Jokes aside, it's good to hear that things are still moving along for you, DA.

well i wasnt unhappy when i was in a relationship just because i was in one, it was the face that the girls made me feel insecure, and it turned out true, those girls were not right for me at the time, i do think they both have potential but just need to mature.

but yeah i am happier overall, and if this girl would be more straightforward i would be ok, but she is a girl, so that might be asking too much

Kinda goes with what I've said in a different thread here. Confidence in yourself makes all the difference in the world. Just learn to be happy with who you are and REFUSE to allow your self image (and happiness) to depend on anyone but you. Seriously who gives a crap what anyone thinks about you. Do you do horrible things to people that you should be locked up for? Are you mean to other people for no reason? Do you treat people the way you want to be treated? I know we all have fits sometimes and small lapses in judgment but really do you think you are a bad person?

If not, then does it really matter if you have anyones approval? Be happy with who YOU are and your confidence will be noticed by those around you..

i was joking, but stereotypically a lot of women beat around the bush and dont say what they mean.

and yeah i should be confident in myself, but i feel like something is missing, my ex thinks its religion and maybe she is right

You know, I was talking to a friend of mine about that the other day, darkangelism. That is something we both noticed more with younger women, but didn't notice many women over twenty-five messing around like that too much. Could just be different experiences on either side, but I would hope that everyone (regardless of gender or any other classification, really) becomes more forthright as they get older.

I believe most do, hence my ire at being stereotyped. I don't beat around the bush and if I did it as a teen or young adult it was probably because I didn't want to hurt someones feelings. Don't like doing that. I will suffer myself before I hurt someone else.

I'm sorry things didn't work out this time, DA. But considering everything I've seen you say here so far, I'd say what my friends told me--It's her loss. Just a thought, though: Maybe you should skew a little older for the next one?

Good idea! Older women know what they want and how to treat a man, and teach him how to treat her!
