Default Your Home

As most of you know....I retardly live in a mobile home on the beach in Florida. We are looking to purchase a house further inland. No explanation needed if you've followed the hurricane news this year.

Out of curiosity....what does everyone else call home? (house, apartment, mobile home, etc...not that there are other options unless you live in an igloo...LOL!)

Are you happy where you live or hoping to make other arrangements as soon as finances allow?

I live in a one bedroom hovel in New Westminster British Columbia. I chose the apartment because I didn't have much in the way of finances at the time and because it had a fantastic unobstucted view of the entire Fraser River and full southern exposure.

My buddy and I would sit out on the deck and either watch the big planes get in line for the landing (close enough to see the planes clearly, far enough away not to hear them), watch the boats run up and down the Fraser River and even watch Fireworks at the Lonsdale Quay. Can't be beat for the price.

I will be moving sometime next year into something bigger and, with any luck, be purchasing a nice condo or house within the next 7-10 years.

I don't think Canada is listed on that site anywhere, it's a US based site.

Maybe Canada has a similar type site. I think while you are looking for a house it's such a great idea to really check out the whole market. I'm waiting on a fairly large Work Comp settlement.....SO....I have high hopes!

I need to be fairly close to a hospital, in case my oxygen levels get sucked up again by the TOXINS in my lung....but other than that....I can move anywhere I want to. HAHA! Hey....at least I have a good attitude about it!

This is also why I'm available to post all the time....rather than having to work a REAL job. It's not all bad.....but I'd much rather have my health back.

I will check the market thoroughly when I buy but that won't be for some time yet. I'd also like to buy a place that's really not the norm. Something above a business or warehouse that has high ceilings, open floor plan and huge windows. Preferably floor to ceiling windows and southern exposure if possible.

We live in a townhouse. It's a nice one, but we pay way to much money to rent it. Plus we have to pay an extra $20 a month just to have a tiny little dog. I paid the deposit isn't that enough!!! Oh well...I guess she'll just have to earn her keep! *I wonder if I can teach her to do dishes...*

Ayla,
You might want to check the house hunting link I posted on this thread up a few posts. I paid a ridiculous amount when I bought my mobile home because my credit STANK. What surpirsed me the most when I started looking at houses is the mortgage on a really nice house is LESS than what I pay for a mobile home mortgage....plus the overpriced lot rent.

I was also surprised at all the new programs which enable you to buy a house without any money down! Closing cost are probably also less than the first/last/deposit most people spend on getting into a rental.

I understand about the dog. Don't hold your breath. My dog and cat and kids don't earn their keep either! LOL!

My sister and I share ownership of a small house in Derry New Hampshire. Thank god for a great brother in law who helps us with the upkeep of our house. In the near future I will be moving into a one bedroom apartment halfway around the world hehe

That is cause the 'moving up' is only in the eyes of the beholder!

I'm glad you think so D00k lol just joking btw who said anything about moving up.....I think if your with someone you love and they reciprocate the feelings back to you you could live in a cardboard box under a bridge and feel content.
