Why????????
If most of us will say that the main stress of our life is caused by the lack of money......why aren't rich people happy?

Because they suck and should give me all their money.
I don't get it either actually. All my rich relatives are nuts. They have messed up families and aren't all that happy.
My parents don't have money (well we aren't broke or anything, but they don't have money, ya know?) and are extremely happy.

I don't consider money my main stress point. Dealing with relationships, kids, work, and just daily life is my main stress factor. I am not rich but we live comfortably and I have a relatively new house with a lot of pops and whistles. Still I have many days lately when I don't feel happy. Right now it is someone at work and my marriage. Money can't buy happiness. All the money in the world won't make you feel right inside if it isn't already there. Rich people got that way because they don't care about anyone else. They focused on making all that money instead of making themselves happy. Now that they have the money they don't know how to go about making themselves happy so they just keep making more money. That is my opinion.

Outside of some terrible health problem.....and kids (well, with enough money I could buy them off to behave nicely all the time)....I can't think of any problems which couldn't be solved with lots of cash.
I mean, I know it DOESN'T work that way....I was just wondering why it didn't.

The only reason I can think of right off is money can't buy emotions and feelings and emotions and feelings are what make you happy or not.

All I know is that no matter how grouchy or grumpy I was.....if I got a nice heathy check in the mail.....I would find myself with a whole new attitude.
I remember 3 years ago....I was all depressed from being sick and not being able to go back to my same job, I was still whining about some A$$CLOWN who dumped me, and my whole life seemed bleak....till I went to the mailbox and got my income tax check. Suddenly, I was quite happy!!!!!

The more you have money, the more you think in terms of money. As money is a very powerful incentive, the impression that money can buy everything is easily created.
Although, if you are absolutely poor (/ destitute) money becomes very important as well, out of sheer necessity (how to pay for the essentials as food, clothing etc).

I'm not destitute.....but I never have enough money. It's always a financial juggle. Ofcourse, I guess that is true for most poeple. I just wish I were one of the people from paragraph 1.

I feel the same way, Merika, very nicely put on your part!
If I didn't have to work and had enough money to live on until say, I was set until 150 years old, I sure wouldn't be b*tching and complaining and just be having the time of my life doing what I wanted!

Money is a major concern in one's life, but I think people need to feel unhappy, need to focus on the aspects of their life that are not working.
Our social life, our love life, our spiritual life are just as important other potential causes of unhapiness as money. Money is important because they assure our survivial among others.

To me.... success in life is measured by how many choices you have. If you don't have money....you have no choices. What you are going to do in a day, week, month or year....all depends on you having the finances to do so. I'm not always broke and get to do lots of things....but it sure would be nice to have MORE.

I think maybe it's because the mass amount of rich people were born rich while a very small percentage became rich through their own work. If you were born rich I don't think it's possible for you to ever understand the stress involved with being largely in debt or on the verge of bankrupcy. If you were broke and became rich its likely you have an understanding of how stressful life can be and appreciate your riches much more.
