Default Who was your All-time favourite teacher and Why?

For some reason, my favourite all-time teacher came to mind! Her name was Miss Hogendoorn and she was elderly, she taught me Grade Two (long, long, long time ago) and I still remember her so clearly. She had short, white, wavy hair and had a kind face.
I was a sickly child and I would miss a lot of school, this particular instance I missed a whole month at once. Because I was sickly, my Mother protected me from everything! I remember Miss Hogendoorn helping me catch up at lunchtime on the work I missed. I remember how she encouraged my Art by letting me work on all the Art Murals! I remember the Christmas play we did, it was Luke 2 from the Bible and I even remember the players. One of my best school years, and that was thanks to her.
I'm sure she's gone now, but I will hold her forever in my Memory!!

I hated them all, they can burn in hell for what they've done to me

Actually, I'd say Mrs. Penner in Grade One was pretty awesome and also my art teacher in high school (her name escapes me now), she was haut!

My kindergarten teacher. her name was mrs. paquin. I'll never forget her. She even sad beside me on my blanket at nap time to help me have my nap. She was so nice. You just knew tht she loved kids and cared about us.

I also have a favorite principal. Mr. Barbeau. He knew that we didn;t have an easy childhood and took it easy on us. He would always smile at me, always. When I graduated the 8th grade, he took me and my parents into his office and told us, while looking at me with his kind gentle eyes, that I had failed but he gave me the extra grade I needed so I can graduate and go into high school. He told me that he knew that I was a very intellegent girl and that I wasn't working at my potential, not even close and that he knew that I could do really good in high school. He went on to tell me not to let anything get in my way of my dreams. He told me i was a survivor and he was proud of me. he did this in front of my drunk dad and mother who had no clue that he was talking about her and my dad.

I cried tears of joy that day and i'll never forget it. I finally had someone, an adult, who had faith in me. it was what i needed to pull me out of the slum i was in with myself. he did that.

I would LOVE to see him again to thank him. I did call my old elementary school a few years ago but he had just left a couple years earlier so I was late. I often wonder if he remembers me at all. I would like him to know that he had a huge impact on who i am today. he was awesome!

Star, Your story brought tears to my eyes! It is so wonderful when someone believes in us when our own family doesn't!
the person that helped me with my self-esteem issue was a wonderful Boss who actually talked to me about it, and I'll never forget him. His name was Mr. Watson. For the year I was fortunate enough to work for him, he told us we could call him by his first name. I was the only one that couldn't, because I so respected him!! (That was in the day when the Mr./Mrs./Miss/ just started being dropped and Ms. wasn't even heard of.)

I consider myself very lucky tht an adult actually liked me back then (not too many did. i was bad, really nasty and angry kid). My parents have a picture of me and my date with my principal at the graduation. whenever i go visit, i pull the photo albums out and look at it. I get teery eyed when I see him.

I remember that most kids were terrified of him. this is in the day when they gave the strap to kids. LOL! He was not a tall man, kindda short, a little muscular and wore a beard and mustache. I was never scared of him. He had a heart that man did. All teachers and principals should be as good as he was.

it's funny how you remember a few people in your walk through life that had some sort of impact on your life huh? I think of them and wonder if they even remember me at all. they don't even know what kind of impact they've had in my life.

There might be a couple people who feel that way about me. you never know. life's a big circle. what comes around goes around and the good things that one does for another always comes back to you in some way.

I remember many of my teachers, even my Mom who ended up being my teacher in HS (LOL)....but when I was in 8th grade....I had this beautiful young teacher who I thought was just perfect. She always dressed perfect and had her hair all nice. It left such an impact on me that even in the middle of the whole hippy/sloppy thing....I made it a point to dress up for the rest of my life. I still hate going somewhere dressed 'casual'.
