I hear from Faybelle in email. She's been real busy traveling with her job. Also...she made some changes in her love life and has been busy FLIRTING. HAHA!

Yeah, tropical storm Fay is hanging over the east coast of Florida by Orlando. I am waiting for it to hit here. It is supposed to be here by Saturday afternoon. It will be nothing more than a windy thunder storm by then.

We may not get hurricanes or tropical storms, but I know I'm not one to take any storm for granted. They can still cause quite a bit of damage.

I don't take them for granted but I can't run away from home every time a storm hits. We sat out Opal and Ivan. I don't live in a flood plane so I am not too worried. I know any storm can be dangerous. I am more worried about the tornadoes that they spawn. I saw a few of them when I was growing up. No thank you. A hurricane or tropical storm is known about for quite a while before it hits so being unprepared is stupid. We have what we need if the storm gets worse. I was more worried about my kids who are both in Orlando right now. They did fine and are waiting for Fay to move away since it has been causing a lot of wind and rain for them.

Heh.....

A few years ago I still lived in Houston when it was a day or two from being the Bull's Eye for Rita. As I recall, this was a month or two after Katrina, and everyone was going crazy. Gas stations were out of fuel. Millions of people were clogging Highways, moving along a 2 mph without air conditioning in 95 F, HUMID heat, car filled with Kids, Family Pet, Cherished Possessions......Breakdowns....OMG...

I decided that I had bought a house in Houston as far away from the coast, and that we would STAY. Besides, there was No Where to Go!....I called my father in central Texas several days ahead of time to hint that we might be visiting, and he said, "THIS IS WHAT YOU GET FOR HAVING A HOUSE IN HOUSTON."

After that there was NO WAY IN HELL I was going to seek shelter at his house, and all the hotels in Texas were completely filled.

Happily, the storm shifted its path, completely missing Houston, and I've moved to the to the spot within the USA that is geographically as far away from ANY coast line that I can get.

In Jamaica many people would ignore the warnings, because 9 times out of 10 the hurricane would change course. But at some point the airport would close and the panic buying/preparations would start.
