As everyone knows, I've had a RAT in my house for quite some time. It kept coming in through the dryer duct....chewing his way in regardless of how much duct tape I used. We tried traps and poison...couldn't get the sucker. Most of the time....all he went for was the dog food...which was preferred over him getting into our human food in the pantry.
He finally gets brave enough to start running around the house. I was a nervous wreck after he jumped out at me a couple of times. Last week he made the mistake of running down the hall while the dog was in the house. Cracker caught him and held him between his paws....while Chloe clubbed it with the broom and finally got it in a garbage bag. She then clubbed it a few more times for good measure.
I was screaming....Jackson was nauseated (he has a tender heart towards any animal)...but Chloe got it done. It wasn't as big as it seemed while running through the house once it was dead...but a RAT....how disgusting is that? They redid some of the drainage pipes around here and I'm not the only one who had the problem....but I just couldn't bare the thought of that thing coming into my house!
The cat was of no value. She would just sit there and watch it run by. Chloe thinks there is another one under our house....but I've not seen any sign of it yet.
In New York when they pour concrete they mix broken glass in with the concrete because rat teeth are harder than concrete, but softer than glass so the glass scratches at their teeth making it uncomfortable to gnaw on. In short, duct tape is childs play for a rat.
DOGULA....I always miss it when you don't post as often...GOOD to see you!!!
I bought some hole fixer stuff that sprays to fill in holes...which has a deterrent for rates and mice....but I can't use it around the dryer. I may end up having to purchase a regular metal outlet...like they use in houses. For now...it just blows under the trailor.
You are right though....those dam* suckers can gnaw in thru just about anything and the duct tape was a joke.
Me thinks Merika would have behaved in a slightly different way.
