Default Typing...

Just having thoughts roaming around in my head this morning and thought about how fortunate I am to have taken typing in school, never dreaming it would become so important in my later life...I thought it would help in getting a job as opposed to having so much fun on Lifesupporters.....

Just some questions about Your typing:
(1) Did you learn typing in school or are you self-taught?
(2) Does your typing keep up with your thoughts?
(3) Do you get upset if you aren't typing as quickly as you'd like and you
don't say exactly what you wanted to?
(4) Do you type with one finger, two fingers, or all of your fingers?
(5) Do you have to look at any of the keys or do you "feel" them?
(6) Do you consider it fortunate that you learned to type, do you ever even
give it a thought?
(7) Do you ever wonder that the people that joined as members don't post
because they don't have typing skills?

Default Re: Typing...

1. Self-taught. By the time computers were current in education, I could already type hundreds of characters in a minute.
2. Both influence each other.
3. No I revise a lot. I am used to to frustrations with expressing myself properly, when I write.
4. Most often with four fingers. 2 of each hand. In principle I can do it with 10 fingers, but that is quite tiring.
5. I know where they are. Blindly. The only problem is with special signs, as a lot of computers have keyboards with slightly different configurations for them.
6. Yes. Otherwise I would have been forced to keep my handwriting readable, and a better memory than I have. After all, if you are writing something of many hundreds of pages ...
7. No. Perhaps a reason why some members don't post is because of grammatical issues or spelling issues (wordblindness), but not typing issues.

1) Mavis Beacon taught me how to type.
2) At first my typing was really slow and couldn't keep up with my thoughts but now there neck and neck.
3) Sometimes I type good, sometimes, not so good, never get upset about it.
4) I type with all my fingers on letters, my right hand only on numbers.
5) I don't look at the keys except for numbers above the letter column. I never could "feel" the J and F keys though, that trick still eludes me.
6) I'm glad I can type. It never mattered before but spending as much time as I do on the computer made typing become essential.
7) Never gave it a thought. I don't think people post/don't post due to typing skills. I think it's more because there is a fear of looking dumb in your first few posts. Joining a new webforum can actually cause anxiety in some people.
