Things to do before you die.

One thing I suggest everyone does before they die is come to St. Louis for our independence day celebration. I'm taking Pepsi to it this year and I'm getting really excited. You all may talk trash on st.louis, call it a dirty evil crime-ridden city but we deffinently know how to party and well, blow **** up.

The "VP Faire" as it's called by locals and "Faire St Louis" as it's called by tourists started in 1982 as pretty much a way for corporations that are HQ'd here in st.louis, such as budweiser, to make money and draw attention.. free advertising, persay. Tax write-offs for donations, that sort of thing. It's pretty much just a big party in the streets of downtown st.louis [we're now the mardis gras capital, too] with a fireworks display at the end of the night.

Anyone that has seen the fireworks display here, and 'experts' or whatever you'd call them agree that St.Louis is the best place for fireworks, due to the fact that their fired off of a barge in the middle of the mississippi river, right in front of the Gateway Arch is a fantastic effect, you have nothing blocking your view of the fireworks, the fireworks reflect off the water AND you get an absolutely amazing audible effect because the booms from the fireworks echo down the mississippi river valley, so you hear the same firework 10 or 15 times, the vibrations of the water make the ground shake, the air is hot and with every explosion you feel as if the fireworks are getting closer to you, you get a thrill as if they might hurt you, even though they're almost a mile away.

I day dream about a lot of things, almost all of them include Pepsi, however I day dream about holding Pepsi and watching the fireworks quite a bit. Kind of ironic for a british girl to be celebrating independence day with an american, isn't it? Oh well, she's english and most americans are idiotic and don't even realize england is a part of britain [it's true, sadly. it was "the british are coming, the british are coming", not the english are coming]

One of my dreams was fulfilled today..
TORNADO WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ST LOUIS MO 312 PM CDT FRI JUN 6 2008

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ST LOUIS HAS ISSUED A
* TORNADO WARNING FOR... JEFFERSON COUNTY IN EAST CENTRAL MISSOURI SOUTHEASTERN ST. LOUIS COUNTY IN EAST CENTRAL MISSOURI NORTHERN MONROE COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST ILLINOIS
* UNTIL 400 PM CDT * AT 308 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR WAS TRACKING A TORNADO 6 MILES WEST OF HILLSBORO... MOVING NORTHEAST AT 52 MPH.

Was about 5 feet from it, got my grandma down in the basement and of course headed outside to see if I could see it, ran to the end of my yard, next to my car and looked down the street, saw it moving right at me. Just thought in my mind "Well, I'm dead, no point in running" and stood there, I was inside the debris cloud.. Was all water, lol... I've got a cut on my arm from a stick or a rock I assume, Half of my car was in it, it didn't even move my car though. Other than being completely excited followed by a rush that I could of just died, followed by sorrow that Pepsi'd of lost me... and the cut on my arm, I'm ok. The power is obviously still on so it wasn't that strong of a tornado, winds were around 90 MPH, was gone as quickly as it came.. worst it did was tear off a few tree limbs. Got stronger as it went east though.

My dreams from when I was a little boy were to get a degree in meteorology and become a storm chaser, doing research on tornados. Absolutely fascinates me, even today. Gave up those dreams for Pepsi. Up until I met Pepsi I didn't really want to get married, have children.. have a family, she changed me and I've given up my reckless dreams for ones that include her.

I've had occasional thoughts that maybe I could still do it, with her interest and love of photography she could do it with me, to document however... The thought of losing her absolutely terrifies me, and it's selfish of me to expect her to be ok with me risking my life for a little bit of research that more likely than not, will be completely fruitless.
