Tattoos
I happen to be a fan of tats....and don't really care if my 16 year old daughter gets one. She loves Eqyptology and wants something similar on her A$$. What is everyone's suggestion for this? I told her to give me a few days to think about if I will sign approval....but keep in mind this is a sailor town and tats are the norm. I really don't have a prob with it.......and maybe I'm wrong for being so liberal in this area.

I see no problem with it. It's not like it is going on someplace visible. Just make sure she really wants it.

She is only 16....she can't get a tat without a notary signature approval from a parent. I don't think it is much more than her wanting to impress her girlfriends..but again..I'm a lover of tats and really don't care either way. I'd probably have several if I were younger. I think they are hot.

I was supposed to get a tat when i was living in arizona. I AM with a canadian maple leaf in the A, the I had a devil's tail that intertwined through it all. It was sweet, drew it out and all that, but the jerks wanted $450 for it. Screw that, I'll get it done in canada for $100.

If you are okay with it, it is in a sensible spot, and it is not having any names (of crushes / boyfriends for instance), or clear sexual depictations, it should not be an issue.

I've always liked this idea of a tattoo created by Boris Vallejo. I have a large scar on my forearm from a compound fracture that was the resulf of a ski jump years ago.
I thought I could have the lizards tail run down my arm and wrap around my forearm, have the hind legs at the top of my forearm all look like a tattoo. Where the lizard hits my bicep is where I'd like it to start looking real and I'd love for it to bite into the largest part of my bicep where it draws a trickle of blood.
I would do it except for the fact that tattoos fade and it would look really crappy inside the first year.

They fade if you don't take care of them properly. Always put sunscreen on the tat - that is the #1 reasons they fade.

They still fade over time as any ink does sitting on the surface of your skin. I don't think there's any way to keep a tattoo looking vibrant as the day it was painted on for very long.

My cousin has one that is still pretty vibrant on his arm. Just puts sunblock on it and takes care of it. I know after time it will fade, but he's going on a year now and it still looks as good as new

You can get some temporary ones that take a while to fade. If it was me I'd say that she should wait until she is old enough to give consent herself. I read something about the dye used (I'll look it up if I have time), then there's the pain and the fact that teens change at such a rate that she may regret it. On the other hand if you think she may get it anyway then at least you could go with her and make sure it's done in a reputable place. Does she have any idea how painful it is?
