Stupid Storms
As Stone pointed out...during this time of the year we live in a Storm Hole. It's annoying as crap. I had my electricity already go out 4 times today. Usually, it's only for a couple of minutes but you have to reset all your clocks and worry that it will happen while you sleep and the morning alarm won't work properly. Does anyone else have to go thru that?

No we don't suffer from natural disasters. But due to the liberalization of the power market, there seems to have been an increase in power failures. Most often it is then for a second or so, but that is just enough to reset all clock and stuff.

It's a pain in the butt. Chloe has to get up by 5 AM to catch the bus to get ready to catch the bus to school. It's tough to do when the electric is so unstable around here. Around military bases though...you seem to get worse service becuase the base has it's own generators. It takes forever to get a civilian problem worked out here.

We have this old clock that you have to wind that we still use every night as backup. No matter what happens with the electricity, we can rely on that old clunker to keep ticking away and scaring us to death when it rings in the morning...believe me, you're wide awake and you know you're alive because your heart is thundering from the shrillness of it...but we wouldn't trade it for anything...
We do have more power outages than we used to...

I have one in my room. It's just a pain when I have to set it for 5 AM to make sure Chloe's alarm went off.....then reset it for 6:30 AM which is the time I always get up during the week.

I don't know if I want them newfangled clocks you speak of, after hearing the shrillness of this one, I probably wouldn't hear the clock you speak of, but thanks, anyway. Remind me when this one gives up...

HAHA Luba....I'm not at all sure that a battery powered clock would be considered a 'new contraption'....but then again....you live in Canada! That's just too funny..............................

HAHA, Merika, It's just been a few years since we've given up the outhouse and the catalogues used as toilet tissue to have these inhouse toilets; we were considered quite affluent if we had two-holers instead of one...

My cellphone. It's awesome. Nothing like waking up to Disturbed - Guarded at 6am mon-friday w/o fear of power going out. Heck I don't even own an alarm clock anymore.
