Sharing yourself
Are you more comfortable sharing your innermost thoughts and feelings online or in person?
Please explain why?

online. I feel like i can hide behind the internet, like it is less real. I am less inhibited. I ask a lot of girls out online cause i wimp out when i talk to them, and it is bad. I am also a lot more open about feelings online, talking about feelings is so hard in real life for me, even to my counsellor, though its easier with her.

I actually think you get more information about people online but less feeling (although that doesn't seem to be the case here), in general.

I do both. I'm an open book. I believe that talking about things help the healing process. I talk to my friends and 2 sister in laws everyday. we share things with eachother. Sharing online I like to do because maybe it will help someone else to know they're not alone and might help start the healing process. I'm just a gabber mouth when it comes to me personally.

I'm pretty much the same online or offline. I just happend to spend more time online talking to friends than offline. Therefore, I don't express myself any differently.....I just say more of it.
I can say that I PREFER to meet a guy online and then go out....rather than meeing him offline and going out. Guys, overall, open up more online than offline.

With a couple of notable exceptions, I'm more comfortable sharing innermost thoughts in person. There is so much else you share other than the words. Today, for instance, my friend caught my eye and said something along the lines of "good attempt but I think what's REALLY happening is X". They were spot on, I just hadn't wanted to admit it to myself. The non-verbals gave it away.
On-line friendships can occasionally overcome the limitations of the medium, partly because people tend to open up more online and this can compensate for the missing non-verbals. It all depends what happens next. Sometimes there is genuine engagement and, over time, someone can get to know you well enough to make a meaningful input to your life and you to theirs. In other circumstances, it's seeing your personal feelings in print that creates the feeling of closeness. Rather than genuine friendship, it's an exchange of personal information which feels meaningful but leaves little lasting impression.
It's different if you have a long history of a relationship IRL. I'd never spoken to my sister online until she went abroad, yet when I spoke to her on messenger it was almost as good as seeing her, except we both knew it had to end soon.

I make a lot facial gestures and talk with my hands in real life.....so it is different to have to try to convey the same thing with words or smilies.

I found it's easier to share online, never knew why people did it but now I do since I can't seem to keep my hands off the keys, they have a mind of their own!
I also talk a lot with waving hands which is quite comical when I can't get the words out properly, my hands tend to take over...I can't believe I admitted that...I'm an idiot! It's also difficult to wave your hands about when you're trying to type...doesn't workkk!!!

You are not an idiot. I tend to curse a bit at myself, if I am annoyed with a poster (on the other site I post) at that particular poster. Does not happen often. Or if f I can't find the proper expression for things in English. I tend to get irritated, take a short walk in my room. Use my hands a bit. And of course switch on some Beethoven to get in a more expressive mood.

Yes...cause you need ONE hand alone for the Yuha!

Vautrin....I think you have EXCELLENT english. Far better than most people born in an English speaking country. Then again....I was born in the south....and we have our own way of butchering up the original intention of the English language. We don't care because it's our own special way of rebelling....so don't you worry about a thing. You do just fine!

I agree with Merika, Vautrin, your English and your wit are absolutely wonderful, not to forget your great Spelling! I bet you would be a great English teacher here...

HAHA! (Actually, many of us talk that way. If Stone and I were talking in person....it's how we would sound!)
