The REAL world....
This month started off kinda bad. First, my coffee pot wasn't working well (got a new one for Christmas), then my microwave blew up (neighbor kid's grandmother died and he gave me the one she had in her room)....THEN....the friggin heater breaks down. It's not blowing. Estimated.....$176.00 to put in a new fan. That's okay...we don't live in Iceland and a couple of small plug in heaters work just fine. My car also makes a distinct fan belt noise to let the kids know I've pulled up in the neighborhood.....haha!
What kind of extra expenses have you faced lately???

Other than that, I haven't had any surprises. Probably just need to replace a belt or tightened it, but I've been too busy to even look at it. Besides, it only squeeks when it's cold, like at 6:30 in the morning when I leave for work.

Mine squeaks when it's wet. I can only squirt so much oil on it or I'll kill the belt. HAHA!

Phone line: estimated 89 E. I need to give back 98 E to the French administration, because they were wrong about my rent.
I had huge problems with my internship (I'm ok now) so I had to call mom back home many many times: cell phone: 200 E.
I'm BROKE!!!!

What's the government got to do with how much rent you pay? I guess things here are different. You just rent a place from whoever is renting....we don't have to report it or anything.

How in the world does a government justify 'rent control'. They don't OWN the place or keep it up....so what's with that???? In the US...you generally want to charge 1% of what the place is worth....other than that you can charge what you want if you find someone who wants to pay it.

They started this way back after wwii-to protect returning soldiers from skyrocketing rents. There is something hideous about the idea that some people can jack up the prices on everything without fear of reprisal-the yankee influx down on Texas saw rents doubling over a short period of time.
But rent control is not a good thing when other prices arent being controlled I agree-

That seems like an awful hefty speeding fine unless you were going thru a school/ hospital zone at 150 mph.
