Radar/Laser detectors & speeding
I want to get a radar dectector because i drive so much for work on the highway being able to do low 90s and not get caught is worth it.

Radar detectors aren't as affective as you think da, especially with todays "point and shoot" radar technology. By the time your detector picks up the signal, you've already been caught.
The only thing there good for these days is catching radar traps where the radar is actually pointing in a specific direction and left on instead of reading intermittently.

How do you detect when there's no signal?
Maybe the really good ones have an increased range or something that allows them to read todays point and shoot technology before you can actually see the cop. I don't know, but I can tell you that radar detectors aren't as popular as they were 10 years ago.

Make sure they're legal in your state as well. Worst is to get pulled over and have one of those only to find out you're not supose to.
Though personally, I think driving the speed limit is the best method to get from A to B.

Good point on the legalities of it T.
If your going to speed, the trick is not to be the fastest speeder. Let some madman ahead of you and follow him at distance. If he rounds a corner or disappears over a hill then get close to the speed limit.
Most cops won't bother with you if your a few mph over the limit but will if you're 12 km over the speed limit as that's viewed as dangerous driving in Canada. Im not sure what the number is in the states but I'm betting it's similar.

Granted, most of the road in OK are flat and due to it being prairie type land....you have a long visual range. However, there are other reasons to watch your speed such as tire problems, debris in the road or any other number of things which can happen uncpectantly. Speeding is a fool's game and just not worth it....whether you get caught or not. PLEASE don't do that DA....I don't want someone having to scoop you off the road.

i will only speed when i need to, when im working i need to drive long distances and speeding saves 15-20 mins each way, so i see a benefit. When i speed i stay more alert then when i drive slow, and i have fallen asleep driving before. I think speeding is one risk i take cause im young and not worried about something bad happening...though now that you said it, i have to finish writing my notes to people, in case something happens.

There are spaces and there are cars both designed for high speeds. The Interstate really isn't one of them, and most people don't have cars equipped for them.
If you insist on going 90 please make sure your tires are rated for it. When I say this I mean the speed rating. You can find this designated by one a letter in the model of your tire. Here's a chart for you.
M 81 mph 130 km/h
N 87 mph 140km/h Temporary Spare Tires
P 93 mph 150 km/h
Q 99 mph 160 km/h Studless & Studdable Winter Tires
R 106 mph 170 km/h H.D. Light Truck Tires
S 112 mph 180 km/h Family Sedans & Vans
T 118 mph 190 km/h Family Sedans & Vans
U 124 mph 200 km/h
H 130 mph 210 km/h Sport Sedans & Coupes
V 149 mph 240 km/h Sport Sedans, Coupes & Sports Cars
Also, you say you speed because you fall asleep. Going faster might just make you a faster moving asleep driver. I'd rather be hit by an asleep driver going 60 than an asleep driver going 90, though either way wouldn't be to pleasant. The best thing to do is pull over on the side of the road and walk around a little bit. Move your legs, get your blood flowing again, take some caffeine. Driving drowsy is as bad as driving angry.

Pretty helpful chart TM.
I speed too da but don't make a habit out of it. It is something that tends to be more of a young male related trait as well if I'm not mistaken.
Just remember, getting a radar detector does not guarantee you'll never get a ticket again, if you buy it for that reason you'll be sadly disappointed. Most people purchase them because they feel that if it saves them the price of one ticket, then it's paid for itself.
As for your speeding, I too do it but not nearly as much as when I was your age and very rarely now. I may open it up a bit on a deserted highway but even then it's pretty rare. You have to be perfectly aware of all thats around you which includes potholes, small/large animals, people, etc. It doesn't take much to put a car out of control and at your speeds they'll be picking you up with an eye dropper.
