Personal response, call display, or answering machine...
Do you always have the need to answer your phone when it rings...or do you let the answering machine get it...or do you check your call display, then decide?
After years of answering the telephone in 21 years of Retail, I most always let the answering machine get it...unless, of course, I'm expecting a certain call...

I'm usually good at answering the phone especially if I'm expecting a call.

I hate ringing phones. For me that is the prime motivator to answer the thing. Can you imagine how little I would respond to any call at all, if I had an answering device or service?

I detest answering the phone. It's the most aggravating thing ever invented by man. It was bad enough when I got all the telemarketer calls ...now it rings endlessly for one of the kids. :?

I usually get it but if I am in the middle of something I really don't want to interrupt then I'll let the answering service pick it up

I can't remember if I asked this before: do you (wherever you live) have that automated voice thing that rings you up and reads text messages to you? i've had hours of fun with that. Here they recently changed it from a machine generated mad sounding robotic woman to a rather gorgeous sounding actor called Tom who stars in a TV programme (Dr.Who). you wouldn't believe the things I've made him say

I doubt that, Meanon.
Unless you would go: "What, why are you hassling such an old lady ... how do you use the phone ... I hate this ... where did I put my false teeth? ..... what am I doing?"

Lol! Ok, I stand corrected, maybe you would believe it.
The way it works is that you send someone a text message to a land line and their phone rings, then Tom reads your message as you have written it.

I look at the caller ID first. If I know who it is, I will answer it. If it is unavailable or private number or if I don't recognize the number, I let the answering machine get it. Pretty much the same with my cell phone but mostly only people I know use my cell number.
