No, that's the late Stevie Ray Vaughan on Austin City Limits in 1989--After he had kicked drugs and alcohol.

Here's another clip from "Texas Flood" on the same show six years older, before he'd kicked either habit.

Insane Texas Flood Solo(10 MB)

Edited for content: sorry man, family forum ;-)

Stevie, no doubt.

It crosses the line between loving the man and loving the music, you know?

I had an Eric Clapton CD....well tape actually since I'm THAT old...which was only instrumental. I thought it was fabulous.

I'm not a really good guitarist....but I learned from some book my Dad had gotten me from Chet Atkins. Maybe he's dead now....but he was so good.

I like Clapton, he's not my favorite though--he doesn't thrill me because he's too mechanical, too calculated. It's like he's afraid of making a mistake.

Sounds like my love life!

I think what is important is to find your own sound and what speaks to you. I've always said that it's easier for someone to say 'this is my song' than to say 'this is how I feel'. So... if your music comes from your soul and heart...perhaps it says what other people need to say. Just like ANY artistic expression....which means you express the feelings of others.
