Missing Members
With DA still on summer break, Vautrin in Africa, Stone being a new Mommy, Star having some other problems.... it's slow around here.
I've went thru times when I haven't posted much either...so I understand. But I wanted them to know they are missed.
I'm happy to see Casey and BaconBitz back posting though.

I've had company all weekend long so i haven't been able to even get anywhere near my computer. i should be back posting more soon. I have a few things i need to sort out, take some "me" time then i'll be back full force again as normal.
I do check in quickly though.

It's funny how things work because we've had our slowest member traffic over the past while but the bots have been all over the site. The other day we got well over 10,000 page views in one day. This may actually turn out to be one of the busiest months this site has ever experienced.
It will be nice to see some of our members back though, they do leave a hole when their gone.

Also...I was wondering if you know which threads/posts the botts actually check out the most. If we can figure out the topics or words they most search for....we can SPAM more effectively.

They go over everything in the forums I believe. The only way to block them is to modify the robots.txt file which hasn't been done for ages.
I let the bots have free reign over the site so they can target adsense a bit better. As you can see, it doesn't work too well tho. :?

All the search engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc., require a way of indexing all the billions of websites on the net and the pages contained within these sites. Thousands of new sites/blogs/personal pages are also added to the www daily so there really is no way for a human to keep up. The solution that the search engines, and many directories choose is in the form of automatic indexing called bots, indexers or spiders.
Essentially, a bot is programmed to look for certain criteria, then it goes out and scans the www reporting back what it finds to be indexed automatically.
Here's a good site that gives should provide all the info you'll ever need to understanding how a bot, spider or indexer works: http://www.searchtools.com/robots/

Don't fret, I bet close to 60% of internet users have no idea what a bot is.
