OMG!!!!! I can't believe that a mother did that to her little baby girl! That's horrible! I too hope that she rots in hell for what she did to her daughter. She deserves nothing less then that! OMG!

That story reminds me of that Mom in Texas a couple of years ago who was a great Mom....then just DROWNED her 5 kids. I had a friend who had that severe post partum depression.....she was wonderful....and she ended up shooting herself in the head....because she was so afraid she would hurt her new baby girl.
I just don't know....there HAS to be a way to catch this before it gets so bad.
It's HORRIBLE!

Unbelievable, the fact that she had been known to suffer this badly in the first place and allowed to remain with her kids scares the crap out of me.
Obviously I don't understand post partum enough due to my gender but I can't understand how a mother can actually bring harm to a child and blame it on post partum. That's psychotic if you ask me.

I agree, it is psychotic. All us women have had some kind of after birth blues but we don't physically harm our babies. You give birth, your tired from getting up around the clock to feed & change the baby, you're sore from giving birth, you're exausted! BUT, you don't harm your children in horrible ways like this! My God! That's doing the unthinkable! I have to wonder what this woman was thinking about to cut off her baby's arms like that. It is a psychotic behaviour in my books.
That other woman who drowed her 5 kids. that was all over the news. Tht made me sick to my stomach too and what made it even sicker was that her husband stood by her after she murdered all of HIS children!
It's all so sad and horrible!

There's a lot of bad things that happen in this world but to me, there's nothing sicker than crimes against humanity especially children.

I don't ever recall being screened for post pardum depression nor have anyof my friends, I think it needs to be addressed by the hospitals or OB doctors in follow up after giving birth so these mothers can get the help they need.
I am writing a letter to congress about this, If this articial touched you in any way I hope you do to.

Unfortunatly in this situation she slipped thru the cracks but like Merika said the lady who drowned her 5 kids, this horrible story and there are millions of others that just don't make it to the news because they aren't as horriffic.
Here where I live a woman shot her 3 children and chased them around the neighborhood the 12 year old survived and is now perminatly living in a mental instution.... the woman gave birth six months prior.
I really wish Post Pardum Disorder and or Psychosis was screened.

I have a problem in using a 'psychological' excuse for most crimes. Obviously if someone kills someone else....they are messed up! No doubt about it.
How to handle it....is another issue. I'm not sure because I'd hate to be cruel...but if a person is so discombobulated they kill their own children....what kind of quality of life would they ever have once they got well? I can't imagine coming back to reality emotionally just to realize you killed or injured your own children.
They are now connecting Post-Partum Depression with thyroid problems and other stuff. There is treatment. I agree with Stoneheather in that all pregnant women should be screened before and after birth. Not just for the Mom's sake...but for the sake of these innocent children.

What a horrible story even though it's a while ago...what sentence did the Mother get?
I did know about the woman who murdered her five children; I guess I don't understand how the husband could stick by her for that..He must really love her to forgive her for killing his children, too...

I don't know what ever happened with that... I will look into it
I don't care how crazy or psychotic I was I would blow my head off 1st before I hurt a child... it's just crazy.
Honestly any 1/2 deicent mother could pick up a phone or go to the local psych ward and get themselvs help for the sake of there children.... very very sad story

I totally agree with you, Stone! With all the the help there is out there these days, why wouldn't a person choose to get some? Are they that far down that they think there is no way out but to do the unthinkable?
Back to the woman that killed her five kids and the husband still supports her....where was he when she was so sick, why was she unable to talk to him and he get her the help she needed...could she have hidden her illness even from him...somehow I doubt that...maybe to a degree..but still he would have to know something was wrong...all questions that just miff me...any ideas?

I agree, if you want help you can find it somewhere. Regardless of what's going on in your life, as a parent you have a responsibility to protect your child.
