I still think one of the ways to combat that is to keep an updated email list at all times.....so if something goes wrong....you can send out to everyone immediately.

Well I'll have some time this weekend so I'll back up the database and pull everyones e-mails from it and compile a list. I'll also post that list in the staff area so you guys can do it if something happens to me.

Yes...if you get smacked by a bus....we'll make sure to let everyone know! Okay...it's not funny...but with my warped sense of humor...

You never know so it doesn't hurt to be prepared.
Just a question though, if something were to happen to me, would you all still continue to keep the site running?
I've told my daughter that I'd love for her to carry on if something happened, I've even secured enough income to assure the sites costs are managed monthly so long as there's interest in coming back. All we'd need is posts in the forums and a few new articles on the main page per week to keep the site running.

I think we'd all pull together to keep it going.
what a morbid conversation. I hate talking about death. I stop gerry from talking like that because it scares me. Krystal's bio father always told me he wouldn't live past 30 and he didn't so I look at that kind of talking as ginxing (is that how you spell that?!?)
how did the welcome back twinkle thread turn into the duke's death thread? 8O

it's spelt jinx and yes there would be enough interest with the people we have here to keep this puppy going. It doesn't have to be morbid though, I think about the same thing with my sites and stuff, who would be there to look after all of it? That's kinda why I've been teaching my brother stuff and giving him and Duke access to things, cause you never know. Better to be safe then sorry.

As Paul said, it's not meant to be a morbid thread at all, just a what if and I'll split it for that reason.
To be completely honest, I think this site has the potential to help a lot of people deal with their problems and also offers a lot of support in place of solid advice. We're not really here to offer advice really unless called upon and even that can't replace professional help. Often, it's enough to have a shoulder to cry on, that's really the main focus of Lifesupporters.com and has been since day one.
Our sites exposure, rating and statistics have been extremely damaged by Canaca.com. Slow load times, pages not displaying, domain hi-jacking, and site being unreachable put out the message that I'm an unreliable twit and so is this site. I've put in hundreds of hours to build a site that's been hamstringed by an unreliable webhost, the worst part is, that I can't rush into getting a new one. Does anyone want to repeat the events of the last year, I think not?
I think I have a good host but we'll certainly find out for sure or not over the next few months. If this host turns out to be gravy, I'll eat the extra personal costs of having two webhosts just to keep this site running smoothly. I have every intention of building this site to being the premier interpersonal self help sites on the net and all of you are make up the most solid groundwork I've ever seen. I never expected in my wildest dreams to have some of the members I do and I'm truly greatful to you all!!!!!!
A lot of work still needs to be done from site move, to total rebuild under a new, more reliable and robust Content Management System, adding more backlinks, increasing site exposure, Search Engine Optimization, Paid Advertising, etc. By no means are we even half way through the journey of where I want us to be and the goal is to build a thriving community upwards of 100,000 members. That is, and always has been the goal and I won't stop until it's acheived.

With the help of the members you have, this is very acheiveable. There's so much work that goes on behind the scenes that people (myself included until the past few months) don't realize at all. We are fortuante to be where we are and it's only through hard work and the dedication of Duke and our members that we are here. It'll only get better and more refined over time as well but with the solid core values you've placed on the site and the atmosphere you've created, it will only get better.
