I'm a packrat as well, please be sympathetic, it's an illness.

My junk drawer wasn't enough, so now I have a back room that's a junk room, I have to get it cleaned out as my walking stops when the snow flies and my junk room will once again be my little gym for the fall and winter. Maybe I'll just jump over the junk and get my exercise that way

We have a retired veteran group here who does pick-ups once a month. They will take anything....they even leave a nice huge bag each month for any clothing articles the next month. It's such an easy way to get rid of stuff. I HATE junk.

The only thing that piles up on me is paint cans that are half full....because it's illegal to throw them out. Other than that...I don't keep anything I don't use or wear.

I don't have a junk drawer. I have a bag where I put clothes I won't wear - and then I either give them to my mom (who gives them away to shelters) or to my sister - she usually loves everything I hate when it comes to clothes . She also has... about 5 closets full of clothes she refuses to throw and a body to kill for, so it makes sense .

As a general rule, I don't like to shop. And when I do, my heart falls for pricy stuff, meaning that if I go shopping seldom, I buy even more rarely things. Everything.

And, of course, being freshly out of school and living in another country are important factors in my not carrying much stuff around with me as a general rule.

Stuff sitting around all over the place makes me feel claustophobic.

I don't mind stuff sitting here and there but everywhere is a bit too much. Rule of thumb for me is that if I can't set a drink down or can't walk without stubbing my toe then it's time for some cleanup.
