Internets effect on the world
Has the internet made the world a better place? Or do you think that a lot of crap has happened thanks to the internet that we could do without?

I do think so.
Internet is a really good medium for information, and it gives everyone the ability to give their opinion and show their feelings.. etc.
Ofcourse there's negative aspects of the internet, but I don't think that would be a reason to be without.

I actually think the internet has helped a tremendous amount and is an enhancement to all our lives. Free information regardless of topic at the click of a mouse button. My daughter knows more about computers at 9 than I did at 30.
You have to take the good with the bad but I think the internet makes the world seem a little smaller. I talk to my buds overseas on Teamspeak for free. People I would never have had the honor and privalege of knowing without the help of the www.

I can't even imagine a life without the internet. It's like being able to connect to the whole world while in your underwear.....and a retreat as simple as clicking an off mode.
It has it's negative points which are far surpassed by it's posistive points.

exectly. the internet may be the most powerful tool ever created. nothing has ingrained itself into our daily life as quickly, or as deeply as the internet has.
i'm planning a trip right now, and i can't imagine not having it- and i'm like Duke- they didn't teach this stuff in our school.

My first puter was a WIN 95 I think. I remember it had this cool 'navigator' room where you went to find all your stuff. It also had something like that for kids with a clubhouse. I was mesmorized by all of this.
Do you guys remember any of that?

I started off with Windows 98. It had none of that and despite how stable it was rumored to be, it ran like a pig on my AMD.

I've only had the Internet for a month and I can't imagine how I lived without it! I've met some very terrific people on this site and I'm drawn to it for its positivity!
I imagine there are a lot of negative Websites on it, but I choose not to go there!
The amount of information boggles my mind...in this Website alone I thought I would have read everything by now, what a silly idea that was! So now I'm a little more realistic...I am reading as much as I can and not having an end date in mind..

I think for all, it's been awesome and has really changed how we communicate.
As you said Luba, you've chosen not to go to the negative sites and we've chosen to build positive ones with relevant content so you'll never have to.

I think the internet is a very good thing. a library at your fingertips but it can also be a dangerous thing; especially for kids.

Actually, the net can be a dangerous thing for adults too. Fragtard.net has been hacked and taken over twice and it's only been online under 3 months.

I meant more with sexual predators and that too can be dangerous for adults as well. the predators now have a new tool to lure their victims with. that's the scary side of the internet.
There will always be hackers out there. these people have no life and have nothing better to do then try and screw up someone's computer or website. so infantile.
