I recieved a thank you
Tonight,I recieved a thank you from a girl that looks up to me and feels I am a mentor to her.Her name is Amanda and she is 18 years old.The story is that she told her parents that she wants to be a mechanic a year ago.Her mom was supportive and still is.Her father was not, still is and told her that Girls cannot do that. She cried and her mom mentioned me after comforting her,I did meet her.Amanda helps me out in the garage twice a week.I have told her she can come to me anytime to talk to me.Her mom is very impressed with me being a positive role model to her.I have told her this o not give up and keep your head making your dreams true.Amanda does this and passed this on to her friends. She does know I am getting married on July 7th and has told me congradulations.I am going to send an invitation to her mom and her to my wedding.

Re: I recieved a thank you
Wow, sounds like congratulations are in order. I gotta say though, her dad sounds like a complete @ss.
Btw, any chance you ladies work in BC because I'm in need of a good mechanic?

Re: I recieved a thank you
Her dad was a sexist pig.Her father did pass away in November,He drove drunk one night and hit a tree, died right away. Her father did tick me off once, called me a dumb and stupid German.I almost slugged him,my heart said not to do it knowing I could go to jail for that.Amanda's mom does have a boyfriend,Dennis that is very supportive of her.I have met her mom's boyfriend and he is glad that I am in her life as her positive role model.I am guiding her in life. She helped me on my project,a 1980 Chevy Malibu station wagon that is going to be a street/drag car and she did a great job.She helped me build the engine for it and finished the bottom end last night.

Re: I recieved a thank you
Sorry to chime in so late, but that is a wonderful story (not the drunk driving accident). Being a role model is a very positive contribution you make to the life of Amanda, and those around her.

Re: I recieved a thank you
Her mom knows I am there for her and I gave her some good news: I am going to let her make a run in my street/drag 1980 Chevy Malibu Wagon down the drag strip when it is done.We finished building the engine this morning.Amanda is excited about it and her friends see a big change in her,she is very happy.I have met some of her friends and call me a very smart and cool German. She also has a wonderful and supportive 21 year old brother Bryant.I have met him too and told me thank you for being there for his sister being a role model to her whom he loves a lot.I am invited to her open house and she did graduate from school which I am happy to hear about next weekend, her aunts and uncles want to meet me.I did go to her graduation ceramony Last night.I am going to talk to her mom about coming with my fiance Aaron and I on a trip to Germany in two monthes, she wants to see the sights of my home country where I was born.Amanda is really happy to have me as her role model

Re: I recieved a thank you
I did live in Germany till the age of 4,my parents decided to immigrate to the US becuase they wanted a better life for them and me.I told Amanda this.I love my job and discovered it at age 14 when I started helping a neighbor Paul working on cars.He is dead now,he passed away from cancer 3 days before I turned 18 and his family gave me his tools for my 18th birthday.I still have those tools in my side of the garage.I fought through and Imade my dream come true with my parent's full support.Amanda and I are best friends now,we do hang out in my garage a lot.I did help her with her car,a 1995 Buick Park Avanue and she wanted to change the belt.We did get that done and I showed her how
