Wow, hopefully everything turns out allright or maybe you'll end up following the yellow brick road.
BTW, I heard the evacuations weren't so much due to the storm but to what you were burning on the stove ;-)

COULD BE Duke!!!
This story, just as most news stories, only skims the surface as to the extreme devastation these hurricanes have left so many people in. We have people who still don't have homes or utilities from the FIRST hurricane a few weeks ago. It takes a long time to get everything cleaned and replaced. I even have a 20 ft oak tree which is precariously leaning against another tree about 3 feet from my bedroom. It's been two weeks and there just aren't crews available to come get it before the new hurricane might.
In addition, you work just like I do....pretty much paycheck to paycheck. Think of all the thoudands of people who haven't had a job left to go to. They NOW need to evacuate again....but simply don't have the funds to do so. Even if they did.....gas is very short in supply. When we have storms...the gas tankers can't pull in the ports.
It's a mess beyond words here. It'll take years to recover financially and emotionally.

Why has this year been so bad for these damned things?
Every year the weather seems to be getting stranger and stranger.

i've been reading about it alot lately, trust me. it all evens out really, Florida has gotten away with fewer hurricanes than normal over the past few years, and now it's catching up.
you know Duke, if you play Battlefield and start out a round 5-5-0, you know you are due to die about 16 times in a row soon.

Don't forget spawning a zillion miles away from the action, facing the wrong direction.
That game hates me, with the exception of Tobruk.

Wow TM.....Congratulations on the wedding thing!
The Bahamas should be dried out by then. Coastal areas catch it rough...but the water runs off back out to the ocean fairly quickly.
Are you guys bringing family in for the big event or just going yourselves? I bet hotel rooms are more affordable.
I talked to someone who is into weather about what happened this year in Florida. It's my understanding there have been an increas in storms for several years in the Atlantic. They were located low though and not in land's reach. Now, due to changes in the water currents....they are gravitating North and becoming a very big threat to the USA coast.
We still have a month of hurrricane season to go. I suspect the storms aren't over yet.

thanks for the hope, but we already killed the Bahamas plans. they got hit too hard out there for it to really be ready in time.

Well tm you could always build a hut like Skipper and Gilligan had. There will be plenty of palm fronds lying around.
When you get there, give me a call on your coconut radio.
Shutting up now.

You may have an idea there Duke. I hade a friend of mine joke that we should run a bulldozer over FLorida and start all over!
TM...I read in another post that you had shifted the plans to Hawaii. It must've been a pain to have to make such a long distance change in plans.
