With that wheel base, are you kidding?

The military used them because they were the safest, fastest and most robust vehicles available at that time. If I had to pick between SUV's or Offroad Vehicle safety, I'd say Hummers would be hands down the safest on the road today and possibly of all time.

Oh i'd love a hummer!! ...oh you were asking something else weren't you? hehe.

The first years of hummers were awesome for four wheeling. I would absolutely love to have a hummer. I don't think i like the newer ones as much as the 90's though, they seem like they've been designed more for a metrosexual sanfransisco suburbanite than a outdoors man. Those things can go up a 60 degree incline and not rollover, and the clearance under the vehicle is amazing too. They have coolers for just about everything in the engine compartment, power steering, transmission, etc... I love the idea of owning a hummer, however, that's until i found out about the Unimog, that thing just blows the hummer out of the water, and about half the cost. They are supposed to have 4 wheel independant steering (both the front and back wheels turn independantly), computer controlled hydrolic suspension. 12 speeds, 8 forward and 4 backward. They can be equiped with a snorkel that will allow them to cross streams 4 feet deep. They might not look like much but they are the ultimate 4 wheel drive. Since i live in fourwheel drive heaven, i would actually have a use for one, juxtaposed to the hollywood scum who think driving driving down Rodeo Dr. is considered 4 wheeling. Not to menting the Unimog is a Mercedies, what's not to like??? I want one soooo bad!!
