homeless guy
Some homeless guy stopped me on the street saying that he used to be a security guard at my school. Im still not sure if he was, i didnt recognize him, he said he got fired for punching a student. He was able to name some of the frats and people in them so it is possible. And he said he used to be in the army and was stationed in oklahoma and he named the base. I gave him some money, but i hate giving money to homeless people. I am weirded out by it all, i think he was telling the truth, but it still seems weird.

Does sound a bit odd, DA!
We have homeless people on our streets here, too, and when I worked downtown I was asked for money every day on my trip to do the banking, sometimes I gave a dollar, sometimes not! It gets totally out of hand..
Now that I work out of town, doesn't happen as often, but if I'm downtown, it still does...

Some people don't want to give to bums because they say the guy will only spend it on cheap liquor. This is the way I see it....if I were homeless....that's what I'd be spending my money on also. What's the big deal? If someone is living on the street....the least I can do is provide a little buzz for them from time to time.

The best homeless story I ever had, I can't remember exactly what he said but it made me laugh. This homeless man comes up to me and says, "buddy can ya spare a couple bucks" and I said, "what for?", he says, "I need to go see my mom". "You need money for a bus ticket?" I asked. "No" he says, "I already have the ticket". "Then what do you need the money for?" I ask. "I'm worried my mom wont recognize me" "Oh, so you need money for a shower or clothes?". "No" he says, "I'm sober and I'm afraid my mom wont recognize me unless I'm drunk so I need money for a bottle". It was something like that, anyways he made me laugh so I gave him $5.

Well thats still pretty bad but you can't beat up on a kid, there's other ways to deal with the matters that should be left up the administration.

The way I look at it is that he is just going to use the money to self medicate him (read - booze). You know what? I'm going to use that money for booze myself, why should I give it to him?

We've got a whole homeless 'tent city' of bums living in the woods in our area. Most are retired Vets ...probably from the Vietnam war. They seem to really like their little community. They get freebies from the local fast food places and the grocery store. Everyone is nice to them and gives them money.
If the weather gets too cold or nasty, there is also a shelter they can go to which isn't too far away. I bet they have way less stress than the rest of us do.

You want to see homeless? Goto Hollywood. Bums sleeping on the walk of stars (is that what its called? the sidewalks with the stars on it) We had to literally step over them.
