Welcome Daystate, glad to have you join us!

This is a fantastic question actually and addresses some long standing issues I've had in regards to this site, theme, functionality and message. I can see how this site appears confusing to new members and guests alike so your question is very intuitive.

This site is a "self help" or "issue discussion" forum with news articles (and weblinks coming soon) that link to credible articles and topics relating to our forum content.

It is important to note that this is a "self help" website and as such, any content provided within is property of the poster, lifesupporters.com assumes no ownership or liability for any content contained within. This site is here to help you discuss what's bothering you and perhaps attain a point of view from a fellow member who may have experienced something similar. At no time is the content contained herein meant to be taken as a replacement for professional advice. We are a collection of real people with real lives who choose to share and discuss issues important to us all.

That said, below is a list of our current forum categories and what there purpose is:

1. Welcome to Lifesupporters: Welcome forum, introduction forum, Forum posting guidelines, staff members list and general site related announcements/info.

2. Lifesupporters.com Network Information: Information about this site and all others in the network. We also monitor our server performance as well as any site related issues.

3. Off Topic: General Forum to discuss anything that doesn't fit into one of our other forum categories. Please keep in mind that this site is "Family Friendly" so all content should be safe for a 6 year old to read.

4. Current Events: Discussion forum for news not directly related to this site.

5. Religion: Religious based discussions but heavily moderated. Nobody deserves to be insulted for their religious point of view.

6. Politics: Political forum, heavily moderated as above.

7. Uplifting/Inspirational: This forum serves no other purpose other than to make you feel good.

8. Health and Wellness: Physical/Mental Health and Wellness ranging from sleep issues to weight control to special needs.

9. Friends and Family: Discussion forum focusing on the people closest to you.

10. Inner Me: Hidden forum (registration required). This forums purpose is for members to discuss issues private to them. This is by far one of my favorite forums at Lifesupporters.com because it really allows you to face your troubles.

11. Dream Diary: My daughters idea. This is a forum to discuss and analyze your dreams. This is still a very new forum at Lifesupporters.com so it hasn't been fully realized at this time.

12. Separation and Divorce: This act alone can change a persons life and those around you. This forum is meant to discuss all issues arising from this troubling time.

13. Marriage/Dating: Discussing all issues surrounding marriage and dating. Is it love? Find out here.

14. Pregnancy, Parenting and Grand parenting: Already a parent or soon to become one and have some questions? There is nothing more important in life than being a good parent.

15. Abuse General (Adult Perspective): Discussing all forms of abuse covering mental/physical and substance related.

Kids and Teenager Forum: These forums are currently combined as we do not have a lot of younger members at this time. Once Lifesupporters.com attracts more younger members, all these forums will be split up to focus on kids more directly as well as a more direct focus on what teens experience.

16. Dating/Relationship Issues: Ranging from general dating issues to pregnancy/parenting and beyond.

17. Communication General: Understanding family, peers and authority figures. Includes topics covering bullying/peer pressure, etc.

18. Abuse General (Child's Perspective): Many children don't understand they've been abused until later in life. The goal of this forum is to help any and all kids understand what constitutes abuse and what they can do should they experience it.

I'll update the remainder of the list tonight, right now my daughter is waiting for me patiently so I'll have to leave this as a Work in Progress for now. I do hope this clears up some of the mystery of our site and makes you feel more at home sooner.

Sincerely,

Ken (aka Duke)
Lifesupporters.com Network Founder.

Thankyou for the replies. I think i have found the right website, i would like to help people on this website with any of their problems.

After i lost my husband 2 years ago to cancer, i was completley lost and i found it hard to deal with it on my own, without the help of other people, just to talk to them, made grieving for my husband so much easier and i didn't feel like i was on my own, just to have a friend to help me was just brillant.

I have worked as a councillor for12 years now and i have dealt with many of people with strong or light issues and despite the experience i have had helping people, i couldn't help myself when i lost my husband. I am now past the major grieving part and now able to get on with my life, go back to work and be able to enjoy the rest of my life without constantly thinking about my husband, and i would like to help people on here with any issues and get them back on their feet and enjoy life again

Out of respect for my members and their personal info., I try to discourage sharing of personal info onsite. Simply put, the internet attracts a very diverse crowd of people, and not all of them have the best of intentions. This is not to say you are one such person Daystate but just out of respect and common decency, I try to keep actual personal info such as full names, addresses, phone numbers, etc., out of the forums.

The only thing I can do is forward your interest to help megan via Private Message and if she accepts, hook you both up. Should she choose to share her private info., with you then it becomes her choice. Other than that, you could try to PM her as well and offer your ear.

At the end of the day, the best way to help the widest audience possible is to discuss issues in an open forum. This way, should someone be in a similar situation, they will have real world examples of possible alternatives.
