Glad to hear you had a wonderful b-day !
As for your lost post, you may have previewed it to make sure it looked fine but forgot to hit the submit button. Either that or you could have re-directed to the main forum before your post had a chance to make it to the database and get stored as information on this site. It all takes milliseconds to do but sometimes if traffic is high between your location and the server hosting this site you may experience inconsistant load times, double posts and missing posts. It does happen, just not all the time.
Another fantastic habit to get into (especially if your new or making a very long post) is to have Microsoft Word open as well. When you've typed a long message, simply highlight a portion of the typed message, hold Ctrl A (select all), Ctrl C (copy) then go to MS Word, click on your document so it's the active window and click Ctrl V (paste). I've been on the computer for a number of years now and I still practice this daily as it's invaluable and ensures that you never lose information.
Lastly, your post could have been put into "The Inner Me", "Friends and Family", "Pysical/Mental Health and Wellness", or "Marriage and Dating". The best thing you can do is think of what the point of your post is and try to find a forum that matches that point. If none exists then please feel free to suggest we create one (some of the categories here were suggested by members), or simply post in the "Off Topic" area such as you already did.
We're really not overly strict here when it comes to what goes where. If it looks like it should be in another forum then a staff member will likely move it there. I wouldn't worry too much, your new to the site and will prolly figure this out as you go along. ;-)
Happy posting
