My mother can't cook to save her life.... LOL so as an Adult I am not to good at it either... I have been trying new recipies online so I can learn better and hopefully start a faimly recipie's to pass to my children


Do you have a favorite faimly recipie?

Would you like to share it?

How important is it to you to teach your children how to cook?

I have a chili recipe that I made up one day as a substitute for chili with hamburger in it. I love meat chili but hate the grease by product that comes from it. I have a vegitable alternative that tastes exactly the same as meat chili without the grease or chew.

No I've never used Tofu and likely never will in any recipe.

Plenty of Mushrooms
Green Peppers
Red Peppers
Orange Peppers
Two large cans Kidney Beans
Green Onions
Potatoes: cut small and pre-sauteed in a mixture of butter, HP sauce, and pepper.
Tomatoe Sauce
Vinigar
Chili Powder
Crushed Chilis
Cheddar Cheese
Garlic Toast

The only thing pre-prepared is the potatoes, everything else simmers along and cooks together in a large pot. Sometimes I'll add mushrooms later on depending on how much I want them to cook. Simmer for about an hour and eat with grated cheddar on top of chili and garlic toast.

Remember: it may not be too spicey today but left overs have almost twice the kick the following day. I still have no idea why.

That sounds good Duke. I like chil-cheese fries and never thought about cooking the potatoes that way instead.


Stoneheather....BOTH of my kids cook very well and love it. We swap off a few nights a week....depending on what else is going on.

1 can of Chicken or fresh cooked chicken (1 cup)
2 cans mushroom soup
1 can Rotel spicey tomatoes cut up stuff.....or something similar
Salt and pepper to taste
mix all that up in a bowl.

Squish up Dorito's across bottom of backing pan (any size you want)
Pour in the above mixture
Squish up more Dorito's on the top
Back at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes. Sprinkle with cheese.

That's the easiest and best recipe I've got. I make it for every function I have to bring a meal to and everyone loves it.

I use the extra cheesy ones. I swear....someone cooked it for me once and I thought it was about the best thing I ever ate. I was shocked to find how simple it was to cook. It's the way I got rid of the rest of my turkey after Thanksgiving. The Rotel spicy cut up tomatoes in a can is the trick though. I'm sure you can find a brand which is the same.

You'll love me for the recipe. You can impress your lady friend that way when she comes to visit.

I like to cook when I'm in the mood for it or if company is coming. The rest of the time...I just hate messying up my kitchen.

Try that recipe though...you'll love it and it's easy and it's NOT messy!

I've never been very good at grilling meat.....oh wait....wrong forum.....HAHAHAHAHA!

My mom is a really good cook. Too bad I'm too lazy to go dig up some of the recipes that she uses. Though, I think with a lot of the things she does for dinner she doesn't really follow recipes all that closely any more, she does a lot of improvisation and it seems to work out.

I make up stuff from time to time......usually my kids will eat it anyway. They aren't picky at all. If it's there.....they will try it out and believe the best.
