Default Decorating for Christmas

Everyone / Anyone have their tree put up? We have so many lights in the living room in various areas....until they are doubling as 'heaters'...LOL!
We plan to do the outside this afternoon.

Don't you just LOVE to decorate? I have so much stuff until I have to put all my regular decorating items in a box and store it until after Christmas.
Net lights are my new favorite for the tree.....LOTS of lights.

We have a fake tree because it can actually handle the weight of the decorations we put on it much better than a live tree. I think we have somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 or 600 lights on the tree and it really does look amazing year after year. We also use the plastic fire retardant snowflakes and drop them on the branches so it really looks like it's covered with some fresh powdered snow.

We used the fake snow stuff last year too. It looked wonderful....even if it does make quite the mess when taking down the tree.

I use a fake tree too. I bought it when we first moved here (about 6 years ago) because I was low on money and it was on sale. I said we would only use it the one year. NOW....we've used it so many times we've grown fond of the damn scrawny thing! We put it up on a trunk/table so it looks taller than the 5 feet. It's a great tree!

I just pop in a fresh vacuum cleaner bag, vacuum up the fake snow and re-use it next year.

What do you do about all the other dirt you pick up in the vac bag? I always have dog hairs or sand in the carpet.

I don't have any dirt in the carpet and even if you did, you could use a strainer and it would all fall out.

I love Christmas. I even decorate my dog.

I've had my house decorated since the week before Thanksgiving. I love Christmas and love to decorate for it.

The year before last my gay friend Kevin and I decorated my mom's house for her and on a 7.5 foot tree we put 1500 lights on it. It was CRAZY but it was a very full tree so it didn't look like we wrapped lights around a paper towel tube or anything. It took us 2 weeks just to do the inside!

I think my mom dreams for the year in which she does not invite anyone over around christmas so she doesn't feel the need to get a tree.

You know....I've always used that word in describing a vulnerable moron. (In which is an apt description for me at times). I looked for the definition....but they are all in German. My Mom is German and uses the word all the time.

So yeah....if someone were to stand there and let someone else pound a nail into their head.....they would be a SCHMUCK! HAHA!
