It is slow everywhere you go or just on here? Lifers is running slow...due to the reasons Duke gave. Also, are you running your spyware and keeping up a firewall? I think this is one area where you notice the most slow down because too many things are running at one time. It's not the regular programs on your puter which slow it down...as long as it has enough room for it.

Also, for whatever reason, my Internet Exporer is painfully slow. My puter does much better using Mozilla....or Opera (like I'm using now).

Are you sure it's internet thats slow and not the computer in general?
Try and click on one of the google links on the website, if it loads quickly then your having a problem with this site only. If you are having speed issues with other sites then you likely have a lot of spyware running.
Ctrl+Alt+Delete, click on the "Processes Tab" and post how many processes you have running on your computer. You'll see the number on the lowest left part of the window along with with CPU usage and Commit Charge. Hell, give us all the numbers.
Go to Start/Run and type msconfig. You will see 6 tabs that read General, System INI, Win INI, Boot INI, Services and Startup. Click on the Startup tab and list what services you have that have a green checkmark in the box. If you have more than 10 green checkmarks (max) then your running background apps the whole time the computer is running that is eating up system resources.
Let us know what you find.
Also, you can go to Mozilla and download Firefox from here: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
Install, restart, and try browsing the web. Many people prefer Mozilla for various reasons, I personally use IE much of the time but prefer Firefox for downloading.

Thats what I was thinking, you simply can't restart a cable line, it's a fricking line.
Maybe they have to actually re-route somthing or re-configure your modem somehow.

I don't understand what they would mean by restarting the cable line?
Resetting the modem yes but the cable line? Resetting my modem is easy. you unplug everything from it, wait about 5 seconds then plug everything back in and that resets the internet.

I'm just curious to find out what they exactly had to do. If I were you stone, I'd watch them like a hawk and ask a lot of questions.

Stupid crack heads!! URGGG It's saturday and NOW it's fixed, after there customer service department lost my work order 3 times and had to reschedule, not show up ect. They waved the $50 and finally fixed the line, they said they restarted the line??? I am still really pissed it took this long and I am writing a letter to Time Warner's CEO and telling them how unorganized, understaffed, and uncompatant there Lee County service center is.
I am trying to see if they will discount my bill since I haven't had internet service for 3 damm weeks

not all cable companies suck. mine is really good, professional and reliable. the one I had when i lived in brampton (rogers) sucked big time though!
I still don't understand the whole resetting the cable line thing. that's still baffling to me but if your internet is up and running now, that's great!! I would demand some kind of discount too for not having internet for 3 weeks. why should you pay for a service you weren't getting?
