Breaking News
Isis just called me from her school (Fletcher High School, Jacksonville Beach, FL). Apparently.....someone got a friggin LIVE GRENADE into the school! They have all the kids herded safely to the elementary school across the football field and are asking parents to come pick them up immediately. WTF????? This world is crazy!
I'll update later.

The area is swarming with cops and various other agencies.....but based on the above local news break....it wasn't a grenade as originally reported. From what Isis said....it was from information gathered from the school's hall camera's which detected a weapon, of some sort, being thrown by a kid into a bathroom.
They searched the kids and their belongings on the football field and the ones who were released....had to sign forms that they had no knowledge of what was going on. Several kids were arrested for having knives (probably pocket knives which are still not allowed)....but she didn't know anything else.
Luckily, I found her in the swarm of traffic and students. What a mess.

That's a frightening thing to happen anywhere, even worse that it's in a school. Those kids must have been so scared. Is Isis OK? Hugs to you both

Okie Dokie....I just checked the update on the above link and it said it was a prank. Apparently, they leaked out that they had it on school camera video in order to prompt someone to talk if they knew anything about it.
I think the school and local law enforcement handled it VERY well. I have full confidence they will find out who phoned in the threat to several places. Someone always ends up bragging about these things. The kids understand that they have to report it if they hear anything to avoid being held liable themselves.
And as Isis said....if whoever did it had any damn sense....they would've done it NEXT week during FCAT state exams. LOL!

whoever phoned in with that "prank" is a sick individual. Things like this happen way too often at schools. it terrifies people!
I'm very happy that there was no grenade and happy that isis hasn't been affected.
I read the link (article) after I posted the first time. duh! :?

Samson.....Again I will say that the school did FABULOUS job of dealing with this situation. They followed the given plan. Only a parent or teacher of teens can really appreciate what it is like to take control of 4000 students in record time and everyone remember the drills. It was a total reflection on the excellence of this particular school administration/faculty. There isn't a parent who could have more respect.
Then again....I've never been short on my applause for public school teachers.

Any discussion can be moved to another more appropriate forum.....but I don't think you have to apologize for expressing your opinion Duke.
