I watched "Brat Camp" last night and my pillow was soaked from the tears! Some of those kids were finally being themselves and talking about their problems, Lexie and Nick. Was it Lauren (is that even her name?) that wrote that letter to her deceased Father...I just cried for her pain!

Did anyone else watch it, and if so, do you think Sagewalk have great Counselors for these children?

OMG!! I can't believe that I missed it! I knew there was something I needed to watch on TV last night but couldn't remember what it was so I watched a movie instead. it wasn't even good! darnit!

From what I watched last week, I think they have very good counseloors at sagewalk. These people know when to get down to the kid's levels and they know how to talk to them to get them to open up. It isn't easy to get a kid to open up, in fact, it's one of the hardest things to accomplish with troubled kids. These kids have locked their pain inside of them for quite some time and they put that part of themselves into a shell where they're kept safe from more pain.

My daughter is just now beginning to open up to counsellors and it shows. It's been almost 4 years. It's a long process to get there but once they do open up, the healing begins and these kids stand a chance at a good adult life.

I'm so angry at myself for missing the show last night!! This is one show I never wanted to miss since I can relate.

Star, I May have some good news about this week's episode. Even though the TV Guide doesn't say anything about it, both weeks now when I tuned in to watch "Brat Camp" the previous week's episode was rerun just before the new one started. So just tune in an hour earlier next week on whatever channel you get it on, and you may be in luck! As I say, the channel we get it on replayed it! Good luck!

You two are getting all soft on me!

To me, unless they were sexually or physcially abused ...they did what they did because they WANTED to. After this little pat on the head and noteriety..... they'll go right out there and do whatever the heck they want to do again.

I don't think that all of those kids will come out changed. only a few of them will but still, it is a good thing to send your out of control teen to. I would've loved to send krystal there a couple years ago.

I think the ones who won't change will still have this camp to think about. It might take them longer to change but this adventure will be in their minds along the way. It's a nice boost.

I would hope that the kids have ongoing counselling help after this adventure of theirs. If not, then they will deffinately go back to being who they were when they went in there and that will be a waste of time and effort.

Merika, you're the second person today to tell me that I'm going soft! LMAO!!

I think some kids just grow out of acting stupid.....

The rest grow into adults and I'm prone to marry them.

"Brat Camp" on tonight - might also be last week's repeat an hour earlier. "Brat Camp" tonight's episode on at 9:00 pm where we live!

From TV Magazine: The teens spend three days and nights fending for themselves in the wilderness. Jada tries to manipulate her parents into bringing her home early.

I was just reading this post, and writing a reminder for everyone (Star in particular about the show).

It was a real experience for the group to be by themselves for three days just to think about their lives...it may have been very scary but it came out doing them all a world of good, I think, plus the fact that the Counselors were available at a whistle from any of the group...it was great to see Glacier? (is that his name) give his (whatever he called it) to Lexie because he was molested, too. Even Derek is growing up, but I think Jada just doesn't get it...anyone agree or disagree?

Jada so reminds me of Krystal a couple years back. she really doesn't get it and really believes that the world revolves around her. She's an extremely selfish young girl and I don't think she'll be going home for christmas unless her sucker parents pull her out of the program. that would be a HUGE mistake on their part. Jada needs to know that life doesn't come easy and needs to stay where she is until she actually gets it.

The rest of the group benefitted from the 3 day solo. I was proud of Derek. I like that kid. he's a little cutie patootie that you can't elp but like. I also like that they remember that Derek is ADHD and help him along the way.

I cried when the counsellor gave lexie (is that her name?) his little pouch. That was very special and lexie knew that. I think she'll be okay after this adventure.

Stagewalk is a very good program from what i've seen of it so far. Those kids are very lucky to be able to be part of it.

Star, did you happen to see the repeat of the previous show that you had missed?
Jada's parents were so close in pulling her out, and she is laughing how she can twist them around her finger with her lies and drama. I will be very surprised if she goes home for Christmas!
As frightened as Derek was that first night being alone, it did him a world of good...he seemed to just grow right up in those three days! For being the youngest member, he's done so well!
I wonder if they will do a follow-up on these kids, say a year later, like they do on some shows to see if they are still staying on the "straight and narrow".

I did happen to see the part where Jada laughed at how she can manipulate her parents. Krystal used to be the same way but since learned that she can't manipulate me anymore. I was the sucker for her tears all the time. I did and am still doing my own stagewalk kind of thing with her and it is working so far. tough love is what jada needs big time! and a swift kick in the behind wouldn't hurt either. LOL!

I really like derek. he's really a good kid but what i think happened with him is that his parents used his adhd as a crutch and an excuse with him all of his life whihc made him so dependent on others. He's a great kid and will be the one who takes more home from this experience. He's an awesome kid!

I too hope they do follow-ups on these kids. I'm curious to know how they do a year after their experience. I have mixed feelings about the runaway girls as well. She, to me, seems to be manipulative as well.

I see these things now in kids since i've had to deal with this with my own. it's amazing how kids manipulate their way into what they want.
