What do you do after hours on a business trip?
I just got back from 2 weeks in Ridgecrest, California (the middle of the Mojave Desert). I usually travel with one or two others so our evenings and off hours are always up in the air. I like to travel with people who don't want to sit in their rooms but am too shy to venture out on my own if the person I am with prefers to sit in their room. What do or would you do in this situation?

Welcome back home!
I would have a couple of drinks in my room and then I could go anywhere by myself, talk to anyone, and have a great time! Ofcourse, it's doubtful I would personally get beyond the hotel bar.....

I always have a book with me wherever I go. I haven't been on any business trips on my own, but I would be just as comfortable in a hotel room with a good book, or going down and having a drink by myself in the hotel lounge, sipping on a drink and reading my book. I have no problem with my own company.

I thought of that a couple times. I did get the lady I was traveling with to go to a local bar a couple times. I had a good time. I think she did too the second time. The town is pretty small and I was afraid the hotel bar wouldn't be open very late. I never checked though.
It is good to be home. I will probably have to go back there in another week.

I have never been on a business trip.
Therefore to answer this question, and considering that I am practically bankrupt, please send me some money to pay for such a trip. And you will have the answer in a few days time.

I think you would be a good travel companion on a business trip. If I could afford to have you meet me in China Lake as a business partner, I would send you the money ASAP. I would enjoy learning about another culture.

I have been on a few trips sent by different organisations. I was with a group so I never really had a chance to be all alone.
When I was to the States, we were partying quite a lot. Anywya, I decided to take it easier, had a good night sleep - I was out for the night to be frank, because the boys apparently screamed at my door, LOL. Anyway, the next day I was fresh and everybody was drown out.
What I did was take my guide book and go sightseeing all alone - I was in Washington. I had one of the best days EVER, even if it rained in the evening and I had no umbrella. Had my picture taken by a Special Agent near the Hoover building and all . I bought my first burito from a Mexican place and spet my evening walking in Georgetown. Joined the others at a bar later... I adore spending some time alone from time to time.

Absolutely agree with you there Twinkle.
I was in a similar position when I was in South Africa. But I did not go out, because I will appear as a bit too touristy, and because of the crime rate there. At least not until I am familiar enough with the country to know what is sensible and what not. And of course, know my way around.

I love to walk, so wherever I go, I like to go out walking and exploring. Whenever I get thirsty I stop at the local watering holes, so by the time I get back to the hotel, raining or not...I'm drenched.
