I bet it wasn't better than my first day back from vacation hehe. I get on the expressway and all i see is black smoke in the distance, I thought it was clouds at first. The closer I got the more I knew it was smoke. Get even closer and it's the factory area where I work. I guess the plastic molding factory blew up last night and it was still goin when I got there, the plant is attached to our parking lot.

So, we sit in the cafe for an hour before they tell us to go home because the smoke/fumes are too hazardous...So, I got paid for 4 hours to do nothing and go home an hour after I got there. WOOHOO!

you're right weiser. your day was much better then mine. i actually had to physically be there today! LOL!

the day went by really slow because there wasn't much to cover for the first day. felt like i was there for the week already. tomorrow it all starts full force so it should go faster.

I am absolutely going to LOVE this job. I'm sure of it!

some days went fast and others were looooong! i'm glad it's the weekend though! LOL!

there is just so much information to learn. i'll be taking calls for everything! tech support, billing, services... that's what makes it so overwhelming. there are quite a few programs i need to learn so i can help the customer with any issue so i'll be flipping around about 5 or 6 different pages on my screen to get the job done.

we got to Y-connect (plug in a headset into another rep's phone and sit beside them) with a rep on the floor yesterday for an hour and that was fun! we got to see first hand what we'll be doing at our station when it's time for us to go on the floor. the girl i was y-connected to assured me not to feel overwhelmed about it all which was nice.

the group i did my two weeks pre-training with are in transition on the floor right now and i did happen to see a few of them and had a chance to talk to them for a couple minutes. that was nice because they too assured me not to be overwhelmed. it's a LOT of information in a short period of time but that's just like any new job. it takes a little time to get used to it all.

i'm looking forward to week 2. our trainer is very good and makes the class a lot of fun to be in.

I'm making new friends and seeing the friends i already have there and liking it. i think i'll be happy there for sure!

Merika, our location answers calls for cingular wireless south of the US which means your area. i'll have to get used to the accents. LOL! i did notice the rep I was plugged into yesterday talk normal (what i call normal being canadian) but got an accent when she answered a call. i found that funny! LOL!

What kind of accent did she produce when she called? Southern?

I guess it made it more personal for the person at the other end of the line!

i don't think she even realized she was doing it. we are told that we will get into that "mode" after awhile. you're talking to people with southern accents for 40 hours a week, it's going to become like second nature to have that accent after awhile. i bet i do it too. i'll try not too though. LOL

if you talk to people a lot you tend to start talking likke them, i do when im on the phone, i end up saying certain words like they do. Taking calls isnt so bad, but after a week, its like you just dont want to talk anymore on the phone, ill be glad when i start my 4 day a week schedule, it will make the stress lower. Your training sounds similiar to mine, we did the same thing with listening to calls, now i have been on the opposite side where im the one people are listening to, which i find to be weird, like someone is looking over my shoulder. How many calls a day are you going to be taking?

aparently, the phone won't stop for the whole 8 hours (minus 1/2 for 2 breaks). it's one call after the next i'm told. we won't have to worry about stats at all until we're on the production floor. but, the stats aren't that important with this company (so they tell us). what's more important is to make sure the customer's issue has been resolved. they're big on one call and done.

who are you taking calls for? we're cingular wireless.

i would hate to have a new person listening in on my calls. i felt like an idiot sitting there beside her. i felt like i was invading her personal space. know what i mean? but, it was fun listening in though!!

I take calls for Dell, but its not outsourced, so im a dell employee. How lolng are your calls? I take about 17 calls a day one after the other. We too are about solving the issue, but they are pushing our stats too, low call time and such.

Yeah listening in is fun, but yeah it does feel like a privacy invasion, but more then likely your calss are recorded anyway, so its not like your the only one listening.

not all calls are recorded. it's random. there are just way too many calls coming in to record every one. you just never know when you're being recorded.

i'm outsourced, of course since there is no cingular wireless in canada. they also want low call time but the issue being solved is most important. i guess, as you get used to it the calls get shorter. sometimes that's hard though when you get a lonely customer on the line that just wants to keep on talking. LOL! it happens!!

dell tech would get a lot of calls cause that systems sucks! sorry da. LOL!!!

lol, i only deal with business customers so i dont hear that too much, yeah once you get used to what you need to do, times get faster, you probably hear similiar issues a lot and know how to handle them better as time goes on.
