So... Zil gets his first "office" job.

I made good grades in school.

I should've went to college.

I didn't.

I'd still like to . . . maybe someday I can get into an IT program somewhere.
THAT would be awesome.

Well, I got married way too early in life and started working a warehouse job.
I made decent money and stuck with it for 7 years and 3 months.
Ever since losing that job, it's been hard to find and keep another decent one.

SO... anyway, tomorrow I'm being given my first shot at an "office" job. It's a 12 month position working for the state of Tennessee at the county's Department of Human Services. I'm still not exactly sure what the job will entail each and every day but I do know that I had to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe. I've always been a jeans and t-shirt kinda guy and heck, I've never even used the word "wardrobe" before. lol!

The hope is that it will lead to a permanent position working somewhere for the state. It all depends on how the next 12 months go and, if all goes well, hopefully I'd have such a position before the next 12 months are over with.

Anyway - I've been anxious because of the whole approval process with the state and all, I was told I got the position weeks ago but now that the day has come... I've grown rather nervous about starting tomorrow.

Congrats man! This is my first "office" job too and so far it has been going great. Heck I just got promoted and am moving to the other side of the country for it a week from today.
I'm sure you will love it, and working for the state sounds awesome! Congrats again

So right now I'm kinda freaking out.

Saturday morning, I woke up with a stuffy nose. It wasn't really much of anything.. but all day Sunday, it was worse. (Bad allergies - it's definitely that time of year again already here in Tennessee for me.)

Well, when I laid down earlier... I just hoped I'd fall asleep and wake up feeling better but now here it is past 3am and I have to be up in 3 hours for my first day on the new job and I haven't slept at all. I feel worse than I can remember feeling in a long, long time. I can hardly breathe at all I'm so stuffed up. My eyes are all puffy... I don't know what to do.

I didn't get any sleep at all..

I called and left the lady (who interviewed me and chose me) a voicemail and I listened to it afterwards, before I sent it, and I think I covered everything.

I just got off the phone with the insurance company and then a local doctor and have an appt. for after lunch-time today.

All I can do is hope that they understand that stuff happens... I did mention in my voicemail to her that I couldn't believe the timing of this and that I was very sorry.

People get sick, I'm sure employers understand that! Just get well, stress makes you sicker! Just think that it will all work out and try to relax!
