You may or may not know, I have always wanted to be a police officer. Sadly, I can't. Apparently my vision isn't good enough.

So, I've been thinking about going overseas and doing security in compounds (africa/iraq/afganistan/etc). I'm having a hard time finding any information on it though. It's dangerous, but you make a ton of money. My friend Jill's cousin is doing this right now. He went away for a year, and came back with $120,000 in the bank. He's now gone again doing another 6 month contract.

This is something I could honestly see myself doing for a couple years. I'm single, young and in great shape. She's going to try to find out some information for me, but, he's in Africa right now and it's rather hard to get ahold of him.

So, if any of you folks know anything about this, I'd greatly appreciate some help. Thanks!

Wish I could help you. Sounds kind of scary to me. Good luck however, if it is what you really want to do.

Weiser do you get to pick where you want to go or do you just go where they send you? How would you feel being away from family and friends for so long? I don't know anything about this kind of stuff. It will be interesting to read your posts as you find out more and more. Is the money worth putting yourself in dangerous situations? Don't be hasty about it weigh all the pro's and con's. Keep us posted!!!!!!

It's not like I'd actually be going out into the field and fighting. That's what the army / UN is for. I'd just be guarding the compounds sweating my arse off. Once I have more information I will let you guys know. I look at it this way, if I can make gobs of money in a very short time, by helping / protecting the good guys, I'm sure as hell going to do it. And yes, I could be away that long.

Perhaps, I would be guarding a military compound and everyone in it. I wouldn't go into the field or anything like that.

When you put it like that it doesn't sound as dangerous as I assumed as first. I say if it's something that you want to do. go for it. we only have one chance to live this life.

Let me know what you find out, sounds more interesting then the courses I was looking at signing up for.
