Potential Job
Well I had my first interview at a place thursday, I have my 2nd interview at the same place on monday.
If I get the job I would goto the different rig sites and set up the satellite communications, sat phones, cell phones, faxes and whatever else. Stuff I already know how to do or can learn easily.
It requires extensive driving (avg 10,000km a month) and you only actually work 1-2 hours a day.
Pay starts off at 70k a year, plus safety bonuses, plus $45 tax free a day.
I'd get a brand new company truck. So new they haven't received them yet. The new fleet trucks are fully loaded 2007 Ford F-350 SuperDuty trucks complete with satellite phones and satellite radio (sirius). I'd get my own personal blackberry to use for whatever, I get reimbursed for hotels and if I stay in a camp they pay me $65.
All in all I am really excited about this and I hope I get it. I could make upwards of 80k in my first year, plus I get all these perks. I love driving too so that's not a big deal. I'd drive all over BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
I'll let you know how monday goes.

Sounds good. I have no idea of the quality of the roads there, and am just wondering if the 10,000 k a month is not a bit much, especially if you have issues with driving in such "exciting" countryside, or in the night (boredom, fatigue).
Hope all goes well!

Yeah it's alot of driving, but I love driving. Especially in brand new fully loaded trucks with satellite radio
I go in for my 2nd interview in 1.5 hours so I'll let you know how it goes.

I just got back. It was about a 30 minute interview with a different guy. It went extremely well. I'm in the top 3 competing for 2 positions. He loved the fact that I had a business degree and a cisco networking background, as well as the fact that I lived in the same city he did in Ontario. They'll make their decision tonight and I should hear something tomorrow or the day after.
So, if I get hired I get full benefits (health, dental, vision) after three months (100%!!!), a starting salary of 70k / yr NOT including overtime / bonuses / commission (another reason why he liked me, I had no problems talking to clients about other things we offer) / safety bonuses.
I could, essentially, be making 85k / yr if I try. Works for me!
My fingers are crossed, I really want this job.
Oh yeah, the promote from within. Because they are expanding so much, he figures I could work my way up the ladder in no time at all. This could actually turn into a high paying career instead of just a high paying job

I got it! Sid called me up and pulled a joke on me. He was sounding like he was just calling to let me know I didn't get it with the tone of voice he was using. He definately got me. Anyways I go in tomorrow at 8am (ouch haven't been up that early in like 2 months) to learn everything and then I should be out in the field by the end of the week. It's going to be good I think.
