Offered a job...
So my dad calls me up and says I have a job if I want it with the same company he works for. My Dad is a P.I (Private Investigator) and the company he works for wants to expand and need a younger person for some stuff.
I would have to get a Private Investigator liscense.
Basically I would be a private eye narc and would be contracted out to various companies. In essence only the owner would know who I was. I would go through the hiring / training process and be a normal employee to everyone there. It would be my job to get to know everyone and report thefts, drug use and any other illegal activities.
The ONLY reason I am even considering this is because the pay would be great.
I hate everything that this job stands for and would not feel good about myself. I am not a snitch, a narc or anything like that. If it is one thing that defines me, it is that I keep my mouth shut and am a stand up guy. It is against my morals to rat on people.
But the thing is, every man has his price. Can this job match my price? I'm broke, jobless and the bills are piling up faster than I can count...
AHHH I just want to scream. What do I do? Pay the man and be everything I dispise?
It would be different if I was a P.I and didn't have to ever meet these people, but I have to befriend them and gain their trust....I can't betray trust.
If I have learned anything from my days as a "bad" person, it is that you just don't do that crap.
Arg....I really have to sit down and think about this. Morally (to most people) it is the right thing to do, but my morals are a little off compared to most people.
Input please.

There is a show on Court TV (guy's name starts with a P...I'll get the full name of the show for you) who is just terrific. He gets involved in all kinds of cool stuff. I think it would be a GREAT career for you since you would have some inside advantage.
I don't have alot of money and I've had bill collectors call. Now, I collect bills and do a good job of it. WHY? Cause I know every stall line in the book and no one can get by with those on me. I can collect from people no one else can get money from.
Same with you....you'll be a major asset with young blood and a keen mind. Don't look at it like switching sides.....look at it as using BOTH sides to your PERSONAL advantage. When no one is around to pay your bills....self serving is a FINE quality to cling to. Life isn't about being faithful to a side....life is about making a side that belongs just to you.
Make it work....grab the money.....and wallow in the glory. It's all about you Baby...... 8)

I need to contemplate on it. I really do. I've been looking for jobs and there seriously isn't anything available here that pays more than minimum wage and it's starting to piss me off.
I don't want to do the fast food thing ever again. I would rather see if I could catch a bullet with my teeth.
I'm not going to work at a male strip club (they are looking for bartenders...)
I dropped a resume off at a tanning salon that is hiring, though I'm over qualified and doubt I will get a call. I probably should have dumbed my resume down.
There is nothing in my field here work wise.
Windsor is a small town when it comes to stuff like this. I have no doubt in my mind that I will run into some of the people I bust. And what then?
I'm just trying to think of every angle here and so far the negatives far outweigh the positive (money, that's it).

Well....let me put it another way then. I am loyal to a fault....but you remember that kid song 'Farmer in the Dell'??? At the end of the day the friggin cheese stands alone. You are that cheese. No one else is gonna pay your bills, take care of your future family or get you where you want to go. The only person who is going to give a d*mn is you.
So...the best thing you can do is use this job as a stepping stone. If it doesn't work for you...FINE...get another job....move somewhere else. But atleast you'll be able to do it with a few bucks in your pocket.
I'm telling you now....life isn't nice. It's like I said in another post...a road to friggin nowhere. But you can ease the path with enough bucks to make your comfortable. Grab every opportunity and bend them into something that makes you feel like you've accomplished what you set out to accomplish. Forget everything else....or you'll end up with being a nice guy...but a broke guy with your thumb up your butt.
It's always your choice.

Merika, I know life isn't nice, I used to be one of the guys that made the world a bad place - truth be told I'd rather be the hit man in the mob than the narc cop...figuratively speaking. I do see your point though.
DA - I'm a good guy in some aspects, yes. This is why I am having a hard time with this. Money or morals. I need the money, bad, which is why I am even considering this. Hopefully something will turn up SOON so I won't have to do this.

I don't understand why you think it's a bad thing. It's not like you are a Narc or anything. H*ll....you are going to catch guys screwing around on their wives and all kinds of cool stuff. You aren't being the good guy or the bad guy.....you are the guy who knows both sides and gets paid for the knowledge.

I think you missed what I am going to be doing. My dad does that kinda stuff.
I will be contracted out to companies where I become an employee. I then get to know the employees, become they're friend and gain their trust. Then I rat them out when I catch them doing something illegal.
Hell if I would be a normal PI I wouldn't care.

I've learned that snitches meet a man from Louieville and he's quite a slugger.

In that case....you would have to form a new kind of loyalty where you are true to yourself and your profession.....instead of a world of dead beats. Again...they aren't the ones paying your bills so it's a displaced loyalty.
I totally understand because I have a legal action which ultimately would come against the United States Navy. I love them with all my heart and have had a MORE than hard time going public with something which I should go public with. Not only is there ALOT of money involved....but they are illegally poisoning an entire neighborhood and their own base. So actually....what I just said to you was talking to my own self. I DO understand the aspect of personal loyalty.
But I'm right in saying....at the the end of the day....the only person who will care about you and your family is YOU. And in that choice...you should cross whatever lines you have to cross. And do whatever you have to do.

If someone was stupid enough to cause suspicion (Gawd I can't spell) upon themselves....then they are a sorry crook and deserve to get caught. If anything....you'll give the word to crime that either you are good at it or your A$$ is grass. It's not YOUR fault they were so stupid that they got caught.
You wouldn't be attacking a former profession...you would be more like a teacher.
