Re: Just got the news
It is good that everybody knows well beforehand what will happen. That leaves less room for stress. And more time for planning a party! Is he excluded from organising the party, so the rest of the staff can come up with something fantastic?

Re: Just got the news
My boss chose his son and daughter to take over because they both have buisness degrees with a Master's degree, they know how to run a buisness. He has a friend,Robert that wanted to take over and my boss knew he was a bad choice to take over. His friend Robert ran a couple buisnesses to the ground and went bankrupt .He is involved organizing his retirement party. My co workers and I want to have a part in the party tell about memories and I do plan on telling mine.

Re: Just got the news
Running a business is no easy thing. And it seems indeed, that Robert just does not have the knack for it. That can happen. But luckily his son and daughter are very well qualified to take the business over.
I hope everybody can get involved in organizing the party (except the boss of course), so it is really from all of you.

Re: Just got the news
My boss has one request for his retirement party: No blue jeans or T shirts. He wants everyone to dress nice.He was nice to me yeterday,he bought me a toolbox,a 10,000.00 Snap On toolbox which comes in 2 weeks and this is for respecting him for 4 years. He knew my 2 year old Craftsman toolbox is about to fall apart and I was complaining about it.This a gift from him to me.His son and daughter get along with me and know me as the "ja"(German for yes) gal.

Re: Just got the news
It's his leaving gift for you, it sounds like he respects you as much as you respect him. It will be different not having him as a boss, but it sounds like you get on well with his son and daughter. Have fun at the party, caitlynnb

Re: Just got the news
We celebrated the times working for him and talked about memories about working for him.He did get some gifts,a watch from his son and daughter and I did get him a day for a massage which I paid for.He liked that and gets one once a week now.He did hand the keys to his son and daughter. He does come to visit once a while and does not sit around. He spends time with his wife and grandchildren and woodworking for a hobby.
