Hell yeah I love first days. I'm a people person and I love meeting new people and making new friends so first days are great for me. Never really nervous with them as I pick up on new jobs quite easily.
Take 2 weeks ago, I got cross trained on another line and I am already as fast as some of the faster full timers, and FASTER than people that have been on that line for 2 years. I'm still waiting for my stupid phone call to tell me if I made full time or not though. They said they would call by the 2nd week to tell us if we made it, and we would be hired the 3rd week. Well, it's already past 3 weeks and no one has called anyone yet.
It's funny, in my interview they asked where I saw myself in the company in 5 years. I stole your line and told them on the other side of the table where they (2 interviewers from HR) and they just laughed. The older lady turned to the young guy and said "I guess he wants your job". It went over quite well. Told them I wanted to return to school while working there and take an HR course.
Anyways, thats great to hear about your new job! My mom always says things happen for a reason too. I guess they do.
